I had high hopes at the end of the 1st that it was going to be a cracker. Both guys were throwing some seriously heavy hands.

But Tim's tendency to try walk through everything was bound to catch up with him eventually at the higher levels I guess.

Far out mate, he's not in a coma or anything. He fought a bad fight, got chinned early and never recovered. Would you have been retiring his dad after losing to Phillips back in the day too and having us miss out on a unified champion?
He was destroyed and well out of his depth, he didn't have bad gastro like his dad against Phillips and made a successful comeback. Nope, Tim has suffered a terrible defeat that could be career ending, certainly he is no longer in any contention for any World Title belts, he needs 12 months off and a lot of work on the defensive side of his technique.

He's not a defensive fighter, same issue that caught up with his old man.

He might come back but he probably won't be the same fighter. That was a beating and a half.

Depends what route he takes, Tsyzu's team thought he was elite and many did including myself.. this probably shows he isn't elite so if he goes back to some big domestic fights he'll get back winning but if he keeps going after the best he'll probably lose a few more.

He will definitely fight again but whether or not he should is another thing. You don't recover easily from 4 knockdowns plus being wobbled multiple times as well. AJ is about to find that out in February too

I just can't see how his punch resistance will hold up moving forward.

Not sure I agree with the fight still going when you have been knocked down three times in a round but given that, the fourth knockdown should have ended that fight.

When he got dropped the third time I didn't know if the 3 knockdown rule was in effect. Clearly wasn't of course, I don't know how they decide if that rule is in or not, I think it always should be personally.

100% should be a hard and fast rule these days imo. There's a few cases where guys have come back from 3 knockdowns but not many and not worth the unnecessary repeated head knocks IMO

Almost no fights have the 3 KD rule anymore

Yeah I mean I know it's subjective when a fight should or shouldn't be stopped but 3 in a round, yeah call that shit off. Really the corner should be throwing the towel in then anyway.

I actually think Tszyu's corner could have called it a bit earlier, feel he took a few shots he shouldn't have, he was out of the fight in the second.

Boxing is alot better with the towel throwing than MMA. Guys get caved for 15-20 mins and the trainer between rounds says stupid shit like "you need to hit this guy". No shit, thanks

3 KD rule could even make guys go for it a bit more, knowing they can end it rather than cruise to decisions. Most go for the kill anyway i guess but you see guys just coast to the final bell alot

Yea this is my worry .
As Johnny Lewis said when asked about it , he can come back but he got knockdown four times. That’s a major worry
Psychologically ,it’ll take a massive effort to get back to the standing he held in boxing before this fight

Definitely, they ****ed up in the Fundora fight too.
Should have called it as soon as it was apparent he was severely inhibited by the cut .
Agree with others if timmys is too move fwd and come back(after hiatus) he needs totally new training crew and to **** off his promoters .
The rose boys have NFI

Would also take years, plus he couldn't afford a loss on his way back up, he'll likely not be in world title contention again.

I actually heard down my gym this morning they're looking to have him fight in December. They reckon there's no medical suspension if they throw the towel in, I didn't know that, if anyone can confirm this would be interested.

If that's true and they want him back in there that soon, they should be ashamed of themselves. How can watch someone you supposedly care for cop that beating and push for a turn around 2 months later!

Also didn't know the bolded, that's worrying tbh. The towel gets thrown in when someone is copping a pasting...

If that’s even remotely holds some truth and I’m doubtful it does ,then it merely confirms Tim needs to **** off the lot of them ASAP

Yeah I was surprised about the bolded too, I did ask the trainers to confirm it and they reckon it's true.

And yeah apparently they're going for a card in December with Tim on it. Good for our boy at the gym, they're trying to get on it but yeah, irresponsible to say the least. As much as they seem to care about the Tszyus they only do because they think he'll make them dough.

Fine for No Limit to want the card - wtf are the people close to Tim doing wanting it?! That's not irresponsible (like it is for No Limit), that's just awful

You pay good money to management so they have your best interests at heart, not theirs...
