I see the incompetent judges being the problem with the result and not the unified rules. Once again we've got a boxing judge (Abe Belardo) and some whack job named Lester Griffin who scored this a draw.

You’re right that judges DO play a significant role in how they judge a fight (as most of the time they have NFI), but they STILL can only go on the criteria set out by the Unified Rules, which I also find an equal problem. For example, they must score round by round using 10-point must, they can’t score the fight overall, and they must used aggression, effective striking, grappling and octagon control. Personally I think that those criteria also play a significant part in how the fights are being played out, and why the judges are screwing things. Control can actually outweigh damage should there be more control in a round than there is damage. That is a joke to me.

Personally “control” should only be a criteria used when other more important criteria are even. Damage and proximity to finishing the fight being first and foremost. Currently we have fighters going for control at the expense of trying to damage or finish because its much more effective at taking rounds away. Jardine just took Mousasi down for a breather, did no actual damage with either the takedown or whilst being down there, and did zero control, yet still was awarded control points.

That shows an incompetency in BOTH the judges AND the criteria for being exploitable. You can’t exploit damage or being close to ending the fight. I would be much MUCH happier with a complete re-vamp of the scoring system and methodology. No scoring system is perfect, but IMO the Pride criteria/methodology was 100 times better and aligned MUCH more closely with the spirit of fighting and Vale Tudo.

I’m glad more attention is put on judging, and I hope (even though so many noob fans still think that takedowns and ‘being on top’ is winning a fight) slowly things change and we get a reasonable, common sense scoring methodology that also encourages the right type of fight take place (i.e the primary mandate is to damage and finish your opponent).

BTW I think Ricardo will make an awesome judge. Much needed.

TBH I think there are some great matchups at MW for Anderson. It's just that Anderson has cleaned out a lot of guys who were really good matchups for him to show his skills. Decent Strikers/Brawlers and 1D jiu jitsu players have been 80% of Anderson's fights at MW. Okami STILL hasn't gotten a shot at Anderson, he's another I'd call a reasonable matchup. Sonnen is a tough matchup also which would be an epic rematch. Then there's submission guys with really good takedowns like Palhares and Jacare. I really don't think Anderson should try for 205 as he'd be in for a rude awakening with all the strong wrestlers (with good sub D) in there. Stick at 185 for at least a few more fights. I'd also rather GSP/Silva than Jones/Silva.

UFC 134 Silva vs Okami.

Many have wanted this & now its happening.

Add Forrest/Shogun II, Cane/Nedkov and Fisher/Tavares. Shaping up to be a good card by the look of things. Am also hoping to see Barboza/Gomi and Big Nog against the winner of Mir/Nelson added to the lineup.

Edgar and Maynard both out of 130 with injuries. The fight's probably going to be pushed back to August/September now. Not enough time to put another fight together so 130 is now left with Matt Hamill fighting in the main event.

That sucks, was really looking forward to this fight. I'd hate to be paying good money to go to an event headed by Hamill.

Mir vs Big Country is still on the card and I'm pretty pumped for that. Would be epic if Big Country can get closer to a title shot.

Brock's illness that kept him out for a year has flared up again and he's pulled out of 131. New main event is Dos Santos vs Carwin, which actually interests me more as a fight.

Ouch 2 pay-per-view main events in a row. I feel bad for Dos-santos, Carwin is a harder match than Lesnar, and Junior is already the number one contender.

Perhaps JDS will change his gameplan to maybe out wrestle Carwin?
I wouldn't want to be messing with Carwins heavy hands.

Does this mean that Carwin will replace Brock in TUF?

I doubt Junior would be able to or would even try to out-wrestle Carwin. He was a Div II national champion (I'm pretty sure) which puts his wrestling credentials way up there and if you think back to 116 Brock had trouble getting him down until he gassed. Shane also won't be replacing Brock on TUF as it finished filming a few months back and Brock's diverticulitis has only flared up recently.

This change should make for a great fight. I woulnd't be surprised if Shane uses his wrestling more in this fight as that appears to be where he'd have the biggest advantage. If they both stand and engage, it should be fantastic to watch. At this stage I'm leaning towards Carwin as he should have more ways to win, but am rooting for Junior to land a bomb and get the fight he deserves with Cain.

Didn't notice any mention of George's change of opponent at 132 from Dunham to Dos Anjos. I thought Dunham was a horrible match up for George so was pretty happy to hear that he pulled out, but Dos Anjos will be no picnic either as his ground game is tight and his stand up appears superior to George's.

Brock pulling out has been predicted a while back and discussed with a few conspiracy theories going around about locking in solid ticket sales to 131 and TUF ratings. Seeing Carwin's original opponent (although highly touted a little strange), was a ready made replacement it is kinda suss...

Prefer this matchup anyway. Going to be good.

I was very much looking forward to seeing Lesnar vs Dos Santos but this is just as interesting. Carwin can knock anyone out but I think Dos Santos will just be too good on the feet.

Carwin clearly had his fists replaced with titanium at an early age
That is a good way to put it.

Carwin vs JDS is going to be a good fight and a even better KO

Surpised that this hasn't been posted yet...

Sonnen v Bisping as TUF coaches is off after today

http://www.sherdog.com/news/articles/Sonnens-Fighting-Future-in-Doubt-32466

The California State Athletic Commission voted 4-1 on Wednesday to uphold an indefinite suspension of middleweight Chael Sonnen. The decision effectively eliminates the possibility that Sonnen will be allowed to coach on the next season of “The Ultimate Fighter” opposite Michael Bisping, with Sonnen and his attorneys arguing prior to the ruling that it could signify the end of his MMA career.
