I see Brock adopting the GSP way of TUF coaching here offering himself as more of a training partner while his coaches do all the actual teaching.

This is a terrible fight for him though. JDS has the best hands in the UFC heavyweight division and a more than capable ground game. We might see his wrestling tested, but I don't imagine it'll take him too long to put Brock away on the feet.

I really don't like holding up fights for TUF. But by the same token I am not likely to watch the season without big name coaches and an important fight at the end the season.

It doesn't really matter how Lesnar is as a coach, his team will get trained by the coaches that he brings in. They'll probably film a few segments here and there of him barking orders at his fighters but I doubt he'd do much coaching beyond that.

I think the fight will be closer than many here and elsewhere are predicting too. Right now my thought is if the fight gets out of the first round Brock can wear JDS out. Dos Santos gassed somewhat trying to put Nelson away early and he'll be giving up lots of size against Lesnar.

the thing with nelson though is he is hard to put away, he ate BIG shots for 3 rounds and kept coming, a lot of variables for this fight like all fights, but it is literally a 50/50 for me still even after the velasquez beating.

Titan FC 16 current happening. Tim Sylvia fighting Abe Wagner in the main event shortly. Tim weighed in at a trim and lean 311 pounds.

Strikeforce tomorrow aswell, with Diaz vs Cyborg and Lawler vs Jacare, the worlds greatest grappler Roger Gracie will be fighting too. Looking forward to catching these.

Edit: Tim gets finished very quickly by Abe, love it. Horrible ref work though, called the fight off then tried to change his mind and then called it off again all within a few seconds. Justified stoppage, Tim was done and hopefully this is the last time we see him in a cage.

Titan FC 16 was a good show.

Just watched Roger Gracie(for the first time) getting it done, very impressive and very clinical. Good Strikeforce feed on VIPSTAND (Watched the Sonny Bill fight here last night, great stream again)

Strikeforce card was good, everything went down as I expected it would though. The two title fights were both entertaining, particularly the Diaz fight. Shame that Cyborg took it to the ground in the second as the fight was getting interesting, I thought Cyborg was gassed after the first but he came back strong in the second and kept landing those nasty kicks to the leg. Probably Diaz/Daley next providing Daley wins his next fight in the UK, and that should be another really fun fight.

Jacare was always going to be too good on the ground, I was a bit surprised that Lawler lasted as long as he did, though perhaps I shouldn't have given how the Kennedy and Villasenor fights went.

A number of people were picking Prangley to TKO Gracie, presumably forgetting that Prangley is pretty mediocre on the feet too. I can't hate on Walker at all but I don't really care enough about him to want to see him fight bums.

Not trolling, just wondering cos the names they use are 'side kick' or 'high kick' and so forth.

I'm not exactly clear on what I'm asking, myself.

Off to wiki.

I'll offer a little help then.
The names of the kicks are mostly taken from the specific martial art, taekwondo/muay thai.

A side kick (most commonly seen in the UFC as a turning side kick) is delivered with the flat of the foot facing the opponent making contact with the outside heel.

A high kick is almost always a roundhouse kick, this kick is mostly delivered low to the legs.

A front kick is last one, makes with the flat of the foot/upper heel (area under the toes) facing the opponent but delivered from a body stance that is completely front on.

As far as MMA being a martial art, its not, MMA is an acronym for mixed martial arts, so essentially it is a combination of any martial art. Thats probably the answer you're looking for in regards to the many generic names.

Basically a high kick is a variation on the roundhouse kick, which as jimmy correctly stated, is most commonly delivered to the legs or torso of an opponent. A roundhouse kick to the head is referred to as a high kick, but really any kick delivered to a standing opponent's head is a high kick.

So if I know karate and aikido which are two different martial arts, does this mean I get announced by Bruce Buffer as a mixed martial artist or a karate and aikido fighter?

Nice win for Hendo yesterday on the Strikeforce card. He's probably facing Mousasi next in what should be a really interesting fight, but it'd also be really cool if they did Dan vs Fedor, maybe at a catchweight or something.

I'd like to see this. Hell it would be a legendary match up.

It would be cool if Fedor tried for a LHW run, and maybe decided on a 215 catch weight as an interim weight so he could ease his way to LHW and get used to cutting weight. Dan is used to fighting guys that are 220+ at fight time so if Fedor was leaner at 220 and Dan came in at his usual 205 weight it would be a relatively competitive match up. Two guys hungry to finish, it would be extremely exciting. I would like to see Fedor try his hand at 205, some epic fights at that weight could happen, I think he’d have a considerable strength advantage over almost everyone, but now he’d have to fight faster fighters. Would be cool to see.
