Hope Rob gets the W over Chimaev next week. First real MW test for Chimaev. Beat Usman at MW by MD but didn't cover himself with glory from memory.

Is it 5 rounds?
Looks like it is 5 rounds with is good for Rob if it goes into a 4th or 5th. The last time they were booked it was the ME which would have been a 5 rounder.

If rob can make chimaev work for the first10 mins he'll be a sitting duck thereafter. Has to pressure and land some body work between stuffing TD

I think Rob stops him tbh

Chimaev will gas without the body strikes. Rob makes it past the 2.5 minute mark of round 2 and he gets the KO shortly after. Easier said than done though.

I think Topuria is an out and out star. Max might avoid him for a couple of rounds, but he will definitely have to take some big shots. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Topuria threaten with some takedowns/submissions attempts - but I think he ultimately gets the KO.

It's great to have an event that has more than just 1 or 2 big fights on it again. Though the top 2 here stand out big time, because they are massive. I haven't looked forward to two matchups like this in a long time.

I think we can chalk the DDP fight down to a bad night for Rob, as he's basically been amazing since losing the title to Izzy (including the rematch). It's the perfect test for Khamzat, who looked irresistible in the first round against Usman before fading hard. He seems to have had a good run of health and has been steering clear of Till, so should be at his best. Safe money is with Whittaker, but I'm going back and forth.

I agree that Topuria is a genuine star, and possibly the most well-rounded fighter in the game right now. Common sense says he'll have to stop Max - who hasn't been finished since he 20, and never TKO'd - but with his superior grappling and the 5-round effort he showed against Emmett, he might just have the edge over the distance.

The real question is after looking so good at 155 did max make a bad call going back down again. Obviously not gonna turn down a title shot but I can't see how he will be better at 145 than that last 155 performance.
I believe he did, yeah. The cuts for at least his last few FW fights looked awful, where as he looked like a natural LW againts Gaethje.

Time for a separate thread I'd say...

Belal out of UFC310 - UFC has asked Periera to fight Ankalaev in the main event
If he does that Pereira surely has a lifetime deal with the UFC. Has anyone saved the company more than him outside of Griffen and Bonner

Lifetime deal wouldn't mean shit and he'll only be in the good graces so long as he doesn't ask for a pay rise!

He'll be most people's favourite fighter though, that in itself gives you a lifetime deal (he'd have this unofficially anyway, not like he's ever getting cut before he retired...)

Surely if they ever build one he becomes head of the PI in Brazil or something lol.
Bloke always fights, never causes trouble, never complains, never talks money publicly.
An the coldest walkout in UFC history. I kinda hate he's so popular now I wish he was still a bit more underground

No idea tbh

The shine has well and truly worn off UFC for me lately.

There's no genuine stars outside AP (Jones never fights but that will be huge even against Stipe). The events just intertwine every week with no noticeable difference between them. Granted, last week I'd have got up to watch but was crook as a dog

The UFC greed and desire to have no more Conor headaches has killed off having any real mega events. By design, they're all interchangeable, but if they're all interchangeable with one another, why should I care about each event?

It's still ok entertainment given it's on every Sunday. If bored, you know it's there a bit like BBL all summer but I'm really struggling to GAF about it the last 6-12 months.

It wasn't all that long ago you had Jones, GSP, Anderson, Conor/Aldo (when Aldo was dominant), Cain/Brock, Rousey. They had rivalries that felt massive Jones/Rashad/DC, GSP/Hughes, Anderson/Chael, Rousey/Misha. What is there now?

Am I wrong here, do people feel completely different and get super excited for it all still?

I've followed this things since pre TUF, maybe I've just outgrown it and it isn't made for me anymore, which is fine.

And, so irrelevant to your post sorry lol, just random Friday thoughts at work
