You can see why Roos would have been dirty about the whole affair.

The only thing we really beat Sydney at was kicks, marks & tackles (and not huge differentials at that)!

We only had more kicks, marks and tackles and led at every change.

Honestly, this was a fixture that was always fraught with danger and it was a terrific fighting effort by the boys.

It's round 1 and at this stage of the season it's the results that matter and this group does not know how to give up. We should be very pleased with the result. We'll be much better for the run too.

The best thing is that all the attention will be on the Pies and we'll just go on with our business. Sydney threw everything they had at us and were missing fringe players. Goodes did his best with party tricks but it wasn't enough.

Scoring Shots, Sydney probably tried some more wild desperate shots than the Saints. Both sides missed some easy set shots but I didn't count them. Saints also had some absolute gimme's.

Disposals - Goes with Sydneys little chipping game. Saints tended to move it forward with long kicks.

Inside 50s , some of these went straight to Gilbert etc.
