Heat in an Australian Summer...run for the hills!

I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror –
The wide brown land for me!

Written in 1904 with no google maps, no air flights, pretty much nothing else to go on but just walking around and living.
Today we freak out if it gets hot, we freak out if it rains heavily, basically we just freak out at everything and it's all quite normal, humans being normal is another thing altogether

Ever considered we have been conditioned to freak out? Listen to the language currently being used - “unprecedented”, “catastrophic”, “life-threatening”, “giant hail”, “rain bomb”, for a few examples. It never used to be that way.

“Even the rain that falls won’t fill our rivers and dams.”

Fear can be useful.

Mostly low 30s though which isn't completely unbearable.
I live in SA as well...

We had one heat wave where it was 5 or 6 days in a row with 35 degrees or more.

Still remember that 47 degree day here in Adelaide a couple of years back. People owned Utes or Holden crewmans or Toyota Hilux trucks filled the back with water and made a Swimming pool. lol

The 2008 Adelaide heatwave was 15 days max temps 35c or over. IIRC it was a full month of over 30c days.

I bought my first air conditioner.

Caught the biggest white tail I think I ever have inside tonight (had to be pushing 3cm)..and another 20 minutes later. The fear of putting your feet on the floor and walking around is probably worse than the heat that brings these little bastards out.

You can thank the media for that.

Today show love going with “heatwave” when it’s 4 days of 30 degrees….
