Hi all

Can someone have a close look at this plz.
I have been given this by a gentleman who has passed away.
He has had it for 20 odd years +
He claims it was a match / season worn Port adelaide magpies guernsey.

Anyone have any idea if A it is a real one B what era is could be from and C whos it was?

Early-mid 70's is my guess.

They look like plastic numbers machine sewn onto the back.
That points to this being 1960s at the earliest, because, as far as I'm aware, plastic numbers weren't available until then.
I can't imagine it was from before 1952 when Port started wearing the prison bars.

If you'd said it was Bert Chapman or Jack Green's Collingwood jumper from 62-66 and 68-69 respectively I'd have no argument, though I would be interested in provenance.
I'd even accept a 73-77 to Swan Districts jumper.
I just can't place Port wearing that design in an era when that jumper was able to be made.

this is the latest reply in history, but have you thought of it being just an amateur club guernsey?

I'm new to these parts and not entirely sure of the etiquette.
Looking to buy a late 70's early 80's Tiges laceup in a 'L' or maybe 'XL'.

Anyone have one for sale or can point me in the direction of where I might snag one?
Been scouring the gumtree / ebay / Fbook marketplace haunts but have been held goalless so far.

It is the logo of a company called Associated Midland Group... Not really sure what exactly t was they did except for something financial. Mid 80s guernseys had a different logo for the same company

Associated Midland were a retail financier.
You could get a car loan, or a loan to buy a new lounge suite.
Their job was to sell their service to the retailers, who would then promote payment plans through the financier.
Plus you could give them money (as shown in the bond Cole Dammet posted) and you'd get better interest than the banks.
They were bought out by AGC in the late 80s, and they in turn, were acquired by Westpac in the early 90s.

Honestly tempted at some point to pick up a ‘87 West Coast peril off him. Showed me his previous work on one and it looked incredible.

From the photos he has sent me, they are indistinguishable from the real thing.

The way he has managed to use old photos to perfectly replicate the old advertising patches is amazing! He asked me what I wanted on it and I decided on the 1980 one and it looks great.

Here's a list of players that I've compiled that have worn lace ups.
I go back to the early 70s since that is when is my earlist memories of footy.
Carlton - Can't recall anyone.
Collingwood - Ron Wearmouth, Ian Cooper, Graeme Anderson and Mark Williams.
Essendon - Roger Merrett, Merv Neagle and Neil Clarke
Fitzroy - Ross Thornton (not sure about this).
Footscray - Geoff Jennings.
Geelong - Andrew Bews & Mick Turner (?)
Hawthorn - See Carlton
Melbourne - Robin White.
North Melbourne - Most of the 1975 GF Team, Matt Larkin & Steve McCann.
Richmond - Bartlett, Sheedy, Greene, McGhie, Mark Lee, Peter Welsh.
STK - Michael Roberts, Robert Elphingstone.
Sydney - Tony Morwood, Stevie Wright, Glenn Coleman
West Coast - Ross Glendinning.

These are all off the top of my head so feel free to add and/or correct.

Well, you can add Paul Vander Haar to the list

He wore one in the 1985 season, which included the premiership
At the end of that season players were allowed to keep their jumpers, except for the lace-ups which were not provided by the official supplier.
So players who wore them had to wear them again in 1986.
At the end of 1987 they were banned.
The club came to the Property Manager and advised that they needed to be disposed of.
At the time, the Property Manager was my dad.
There were about 6 lace-ups to get rid of, and coincidentally at the time, 6 staff; trainers and other property guys.
So everyone took one.
Some went to the Social Club and were sold to supporters. The #18 version went to my mate's family who were massive Vanda fans.
Let's call him Daz. Because that was what we called him.
It was hung in the staircase shrine for years.
Many year later Daz had a little bloke of his own, and the new grandparents decided the perfect gift would be Vanda's lace-up.
So it went on display at my mate's place until his brother in law and new girlfriend came over.
She noticed the jumper and advised that Paul was her cousin, and she could get it signed by him.
Daz was very keen to get the jumper signed, and bought a new Sharpie for the occasion.
At the next Vander Haar family reunion the jumper was unveiled and old Vanda got a bit teary.
"My 85 premiership jumper".
Quickly followed by "he's not getting this back, this is mine".
To cut a longer story short Vanda kept the lace-up and Daz got a signed #18, with Matthew Lloyd and Paul Vander Haar signatures on it.
The offer of getting Reg Burgess to also sign it was politely declined.
