Essendon forward Jason Winderlich has been ruled out of Saturday’s clash with Port Adelaide after experiencing hamstring soreness at training today.

The 27-year-old was on track to play his first game this weekend since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament early last year.
Winderlich will have scans in the coming days to determine the full extent of the injury.

Re: Injury Update - 05/04: Colyer, Gumby, Pris, Browne, Ross, Winders, Hocking, Hooker

The hammy's are starting to feel the pressure already :(
Does back up my previous theory that it does not matter who the fitness coach is, blokes who are prone to soft tissue injuries will keep having intermittent problems with them and we have a few on the list.

Re: Injury Update - 05/04: Colyer, Gumby, Pris, Browne, Ross, Winders, Hocking, Hooker

Ant

Thats twice that you have beaten me to the punch - About to comment that 3 soft tissue injuries in one game is unacceptable.

Hoping the curse is lifted.

How is your comment even similar to ant's?

We are both commenting on soft tissue injuries - Four this week if you count Winderlich - Many jumped on this board after the appointment of Robinson - I was one who stepped back and stated ' lets what happens in 2012'.

I understand your point, but ant was stating that no matter who is in charge some players are just prone to suffering soft tissue injuries.

Feeling vindicated already, YACO ?

Nothing to be vindicated about - Only disappointment.

I merely agreed with Ant's post.

Re: Injury Update - 07/04: Colyer, Gumby, Pris, Browne, Ross, Winders, Hocking, Hooker, NLM, Myers,

So in summary the injuries from the game are David Hille (calf), Nathan Lovett-Murray (hamstring) and David Myers and they are all expected to be out for roughly 3 weeks.

I'm pretty sure people were jumping on Robson as he was building players up in order to win more contested footy. This has definetly been a stand out in our two games this year. I didnt expect him to find a cure for soft tissue injuries.

Kavanagh flies under the radar

Essendon will take a cautious approach with first-round draftee Elliott Kavanagh, who has been sidelined early in the season with leg soreness.

The 18-year-old missed a large chunk of last year with a serious hamstring injury, but was able to get through his first pre-season at the club unscathed, playing in the first round of the NAB Cup and several practice games. But he has missed the opening two rounds of Bendigo's VFL season with the leg complaint unrelated to his hamstring history.

Jason Winderlich, David Myers, Nathan Lovett-Murray and Alex Browne are all unavailable for selection due to hamstring strains of differing severity, while rookies Anthony Long and Hal Hunter continue to be put through tightly managed programs due to hamstring-affected backgrounds.

Saw Prismal and Hunter running up and down the boundary line at training today

Also saw a player with a cast on his arm, hopefully it was Colyer, and not a new injury to another player?????

Re: Injury Update - 07/04: Colyer, Gumby, Pris, Browne, Ross, Winders, Hocking, Hooker, NLM, Myers H

Ok so here is my guesses
Colyer - 3 weeks away
Gumby - 12 weeks
Pris - 12 weeks
Browne - 2 weeks
Hunter - 3 weeks
Ross - 1 week
Winderlich - 2 weeks
Hocking - fine
Hooker - fine
NLM - 3 weeks
Hille - 4 weeks
Myers - 4 weeks

10 injuries + Lonergan out for a week. It's at that stage were we can't cover anymore people out, particually in the midfield.

What? You've just added weeks to people for no reason and included guys who are fine or on the rookie list...

The list is:

Gumby - no idea. mod program.
Pris - no idea. mod program.
Browne - no idea. mod program.
Ross - 1-2 weeks.
Colyer - 3-4 weeks.
Winderlich - no idea. couple of weeks at most you'd think.
NLM - 3 weeks
Hille - 3 weeks
Myers - 3 weeks

By round 6 we should have 5-6 of those guys back, with a chance that Gumby Pris and Browne might be getting close to/playing VFL. It's not really that bad.

Re: Injury Update - 07/04: Colyer, Gumby, Pris, Browne, Ross, Winders, Hocking, Hooker, NLM, Myers H

We don't want any injuries in the match against the Suns considering that we have Carlton and Collingwood within 4 days of each other. But after that we have a 10 day break and should be seeing some of those players be ready for selection.

Re: Injury Update - 07/04: Colyer, Gumby, Pris, Browne, Ross, Winders, Hocking, Hooker, NLM, Myers H

Injury news updated.

Winders was worse than expected.
Ross 2-3 away.
Myers, Hille & NLM might be back for ANZAC. All 2-3 away:

Scott Gumbleton Back Test
Brent Prismall Knee Test
Alex Browne Hamstring Test
Travis Colyer Thumb 4 weeks

Jason Winderlich Hamstring 4 weeks
Jason has suffered a torn hamstring following his rehabilitation with his ACL injury last year. He will closely monitored by the medical staff but will undertake a modified training program.

Michael Ross Ankle 2-3 weeks
David Hille Calf 2-3 weeks
David Myers Hamstring 2-3 weeks
Nathan Lovett-Murray Hamstring 2-3 weeks

As I said in the first line, they were my guesses on how long they will take to get back. There is only 1 week between most of my predictions and yours anyway.
Hird said that NLM/Myers were both 3 to 4 week injuries, with their backgrounnd, you would expect them both to be 4.
I didn't include anyone who was fine. The only person I included that you did was Hal Hunter. On 'The Hanger' ep1 they spoke with him. He said that he was getting over an injury (from memory it was a hammy). He was working with the modifed group and would expect to be fit to play in the next couple of weeks.
I included Hooker and Hocking as they are currently injured but I expect both of them to be fine to play this week.

Re: Injury Update - 07/04: Colyer, Gumby, Pris, Browne, Ross, Winders, Hocking, Hooker, NLM, Myers H

i think daffo is closer to the mark than any website - gumby has been listed as test for a couple of months now!

the only queries for mine are elliott kavanagh and anthony long - what's the real story with those two? the story with kavanagh having leg soreness was rubbish - why not just say he has the windy hill flu...

Re: Injury Update - 07/04: Colyer, Gumby, Pris, Browne, Ross, Winders, Hocking, Hooker, NLM, Myers H

18 players from main or supp list not named this week for either Essendon OR Bendigo. With the exception of Lonergan Im assuming they are all injured or being rested;-

Colyer Long
Winderlich Gumby
Hille Prismall
Myers Hunter
NLM Dalgleish
McVeigh Browne
Kavanagh Ross
O'Brien Merrett
Dell'Olio Lonergan

Thats a fair few guys hopefully a few of them get back on the park soon...

Re: Injury Update - 07/04: Colyer, Gumby, Pris, Browne, Ross, Winders, Hocking, Hooker, NLM, Myers H

Imagine a couple are being rested for Round 4 or 5.

A couple are coming back from LTI.

The length of the list is worrying.

Re: Injury Update - 07/04: Colyer, Gumby, Pris, Browne, Ross, Winders, Hocking, Hooker, NLM, Myers H

Do we know for a fact that Long is injured?

He isn't named as injured on EFC website. It is not like he is in need of a rest.

Things are very wrong if he isn't injured and still can't get a game at Bendigo.

There is no reason I should be interested in him other than that he is a "Long" and in theory, being a 6'2, fast half back/wing type with suppoedly good skills, he is a lot of what we need (I'm still a little worried about the amount of pace & skill on the list).

Re: Injury Update - 07/04: Colyer, Gumby, Pris, Browne, Ross, Winders, Hocking, Hooker, NLM, Myers H

Colyer Long
Winderlich Gumby
Hille Prismall
Myers Hunter
NLM Dalgleish
McVeigh Browne
Kavanagh Ross
O'Brien Merrett
Dell'Olio Lonergan

Only one I'm surprised to see there is Dell'Olio. Didn't think he was injured, nor did I think they'd be resting him for Carlton... which I assume they're doing with Spike?

Will the emergencies play for Bendigo or travel to GC? Would hope Hooker would be right for Carlton & Davis would be good to have for one of the short turn-around matches.

Re: Injury Update - 07/04: Colyer, Gumby, Pris, Browne, Ross, Winders, Hocking, Hooker, NLM, Myers H

Long has been missing since Round 1 of the NAB CUP.

Into his third year and has rarely been seen on the field.

At least has time to continue his studies at Melbourne University.
