There was a festival game at Lilac Hill to kick off the test tours for a while. Scheduling pressure meant international teams didn't want to play anymore, so they ran it as a fun exhibition game for a few years before interest dried up. This was one of the last games.
Must be why the WACA President's XI batted on past the target

Just realised you can now add Jarrad Schofield to the list of footballers with random Cricinfo profiles.

Those guys were all cricketers. I'm thinking of this type:

Wasn't initially aware of those four's cricketing background - I only got them by matching player data from cricinfo against afltables (full name and date of birth). Didn't catch those two because cricinfo didn't give either of them a date of birth...

Widening out to a full name match gives a lot of false positives but it looks like Hodge and Riewoldt are rare finds. There's Brad Sheppard but he was a state U-17 cricketer too.

Only one I can think of of NRL origin

Fatty Vautin misses out, his game isn't on Cricinfo, sadly.

But the Ian Healy Testimonial is, which means this guy gets one:

From the same game, we also had Alfie Langer play that game

However, no cricinfo profile was created

Reportedly, towards the end of a cricket season in the late 80’s, Craig Bradley fielded for 100 overs in a Melbourne District cricket semi final - and later that night played in a pre season trial game for Carlton…

To be fair, Mongolia have proven to be one of the worst T20I teams in the world. So this was kinda on the cards.
They also have scores of 12, 17, 26, 33, 41, 43, and 50.

Shannon Hurn was an excellent junior cricketer and would have gone onto a 1st class career if not for choosing Aussie Rules.

I played against him when he came up to play 'A' Grade for Angaston hen he was about 15. He made 55 odd and looked completely in control, very classy batsman even at that young age.

Stand to be corrected but I recall that he played in an A Grade district cricked premiership with Northern Jets and the same year, played in an SANFL premiership with Central Districts.

The other one like that was Stephen Coniglio, who had 20 touches and four goals in a WAFL grand final aged 16, then scored a hundred in first-grade cricket for Midland-Guildford about three weeks later.

It's currently the start of Day 4, likely to be washed out as well. And most probably the whole test as well

Here is a list of the 7 previous times this has happened:

Test No: 34 – Australia vs England
25-08-1890: Old Trafford, Manchester Australia & England
Test No. 34 was the first match to be abandoned due to rain. Moreover, the captains did not even come out together for a toss for the entire game.

Test No: 264 – Australia vs England
08-07-1938: Old Trafford, Manchester
Test No. 264 was also abandoned due to rain. There was no toss.

Test No: 675 – Australia vs England
31-12-1970: Melbourne Cricket Ground
During Test No. 675, as the players were entering the field, it started to rain. There was a discussion between the MCC Manager, the Australian Board and 2 MCC officials and it was concluded that a limited overs match should be played and this match was later admitted to be the first ODI.

Test No: 1113 – New Zealand vs Pakistan
03-02-1989: Carisbrook, Dunedin
In Test No. 1113, as there was heavy sweeping rain, the match was abandoned on 3rd February 1989. Also, it was planned that an ODI would be played on 6th February 1989 and this ODI was played as per schedule.

Test No: 1140 – England vs West Indies
10-03-1990: Bourda, Georgetown, Guyana
Test No. 1140 was abandoned due to rain. On the 5th day of this match, an ODI was played.

Test No: 1434 – Pakistan vs Zimbabwe
17-12-1998 Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad
No teams were announced for Test No. 1434

Test No: 1434 – New Zealand vs India
18-12-1998: Carisbrook, Dunedin
Test No. 1434 was abandoned on the 3rd day. It was decided that on the 4th day, an unofficial One day match would be played.

pretty sure your right there

Ranji trophy’s back so there’s bound to be some wacky cricket going on.

Here 30-year-old karnatakan KC Cariappa got a 7 for, a fifty, a 5 for and 75 in a losing cause for mizoram, in only his seventh first class match, but didn’t even get man of the match

A guy who made 22 & 97 got MOTM. That's rather farcical.

If you have a look at his second innings score. He came in at 2/31, and batted the rest of the innings with the team making 269. He faced 236 balls for his 97.
I don’t think it was the best performance of the game. But can see how it was pivotal in a reasonably low scoring same

Those guys were all cricketers. I'm thinking of this type:

Not a footballer but here is the only member of the British royal family to play First-Class cricket
