Bronco fans have now become 'anti-Cutler' because of the way he has handled himself throughout this saga. I was initially annoyed when the Cassel trade talks started, but the longer this thing has gone on the more 'anti-Cutler' I have become. He has shown scant consideration to the club that has payed him millions of dollars; refusing to communicate, using his knuckle head agent as a mouth piece. Reading through Bronco forums I'd say fans are probably 70/30 on Cutler's side, so Cutler haters are in the minority...

I still respect Cutler and if I was in his position i'd probably feel the same as him. He seems a bit lost in his recent comments but thats going to happen when he has nfi what is going to happen next or really what has happened.

I put most of the blame for all this shit on the new coach. I'll stick with him and the team of course.. but he better not fail.

I sense you OWN a Cutler guernsey?? ;) Nothing wrong with that btw.. I had to go thru the same circumstance with near future HOFer, Rod Woodson .

It's different because the roles are reversed.

Exactly, the hypocrisy is laughable.

I'm not having a go at you specifically, RR, but come on...

Take the teams out of the equation, and the bitch Elway went on seems worse than anything Cutler has said. The guy threatened to quit and go play Baseball if he didn't get his own way FFS, try and tell me that isn't worse than what Cutler has said/done.

Just a seems a bit convenient to pay out on Cutler, when a lot of Denver fans watched and worshipped Elway for 15 years, and if he didn't do what Cutler did, these same fans wouldn't have had shit. IMO, what Cutler has done pales into comparison...

Am I the only one that doesn't give a crap about this? Don't see how making this public helps, don't see how all this speculation helps.

Frankly, I am more concerned about the free agents then disgruntled overated players

You seem really upset about this. I would have thought you'd have some empathy for teams with whiny flip-flopping QB's, managed by Bus Cook.

The latest grabs...

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that a Jay Cutler trade could come by as early as Friday.
Mort says Denver wants "at least" two first-round picks and doesn't need a passer in return. Only the Lions and Eagles hold two first-rounders in this year's draft, so other clubs will have to give up future picks to execute a deal. The Redskins and Jets are known to be in active pursuit at this time.

There is reportedly concern of a "split" in the Broncos' locker room over the Jay Cutler situation.
The free agents Denver signed will be on board, but Shanahan era holdovers may take Cutler's side. A players-only meeting will be held Thursday. Winning will ultimately decide whether Josh McDaniels can win over his team.

The Jets spent Wednesday formulating a plan to acquire Jay Cutler via trade, according to the NY Daily News.
The Daily News seconds ESPN's report that Denver hasn't asked for a QB in a trade package, and says Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum is "prepared" to enter a bidding war. The Jets may have to substantially outbid the rest of the league, however, because they play in the AFC and are the best team involved. Denver would rather deal Cutler outside the conference, which seems to give Tampa Bay, Washington, Chicago and Detroit the best shots at landing him.

2 First rounders???

If I understand correctly, the Broncos have no option but to trade Cutler so they are hardly in a position to demand this or that.

They will just have to accept the best offer and hope a team like the Jets pay inflated value.

It would initially appear that way, yes.

However, on a show on ESPN2 this morning Skip Bayless I think it was was saying that Chicago tried to contact Denver about Cutler and simply could not speak to them because the Broncos' phone lines were overloaded with calls from teams wanting Cutler. Denver had to email Chicago apologising for not being able to talk.

If Cutler is in high demand, it will push up his value even if the Broncos' hands are tied.

According to denverbroncos.com, Cutler has been traded to the Bears. Not sure for what yet though.

My best guess would be for Chicago's 2009 and 2010 1st rounders.

The official Broncos website surely wouldn't report it unless they were 100% on the matter - they didn't even acknowledge that Cutler was upset for about 3 weeks.

EDIT: And now there is the matter of deciding what to do with my Authentic Jay Cutler jersey. I will take suggestions. :)

Swap you for an authentic T.O Eagles guernsey.

**** that was easy wasn't it.

Begs the question on Kyle Orton now? Does he stay and play 2nd fiddle and hope Cutler gets hurt or does he move on and try to get a job somewhere else?

Not the best option for Cutler though IMO, not a whole lot of weaponary to play with there.

Sorry....Orton to Broncos as part of the deal.

Therefore begs the question - does Orton or Simms start Round 1?

well...on one hand Kyle impressed me last season, so it's sad to see him go. that said, I'm excited about Cutler. If the Bears can get a receiver or two and Hester improves, it's officially on.

Bears get Cutler and a 5th rounder.
Broncos get 2009 and 2010 1st round picks, Orton and a 2009 3rd rounder.

So who exactly is Cutler going to throw to anyway?

Broncos are big winners here. Orton showed he has a bit about him last year and with all those draft picks the Broncos can retool on defense or even move around in the draft to select a franchise QB.

....and a couple of tackles.

Unfortunately the Bears traded away alot of draft ammunition to fill these needs.

*dusts off the off-season for his first post in months*

Very happy with this move that brings a young, high-calibre quarterback to the Bears for the firs time...ever. I called a friend of mine this morning and he put it best: "Mate, in the 10 years we've both been following them, Cutler will be the first quarterback who's name i'd put on my jersey."

Shame I just got a Forte jersey. :D

Cutler will have weapons in Hester and Greg Olsen, but it's clear more will need to be done to find some targets for him. Potentially, Earl Bennett (3rd rounder last year) might step up - he was Cutler's favourite pass buddy at Vanderbilt. Forte will also remain a strength of the offence.

2 first rounders and a third is a big price, but with Angelo's very bad history of first round picks, it's not so bad. Glad that Kyle will get the chance to start somewhere as well, no bad feelings for him, he did a great job last year. Leaves us with a second and our compensatory third, so not too bad.

Not as thrilled with the signing of Orlando Pace. Cutler will be passing behind a very different offensive line to the one we've seen in Chitown for the last five years - likely to be Pace, Omiyale, Kreutz, Garza, Chris Williams.

So who exactly is Cutler going to throw to anyway?

In the 2006 season when the Bears made the SB, their leading receiver was Muhsin Muhammad with 60 receptions. Chicago is not your typical receiving team, they'll play close to the line, use their tight ends a lot and run on a 2:1 ratio.

I'd say Cutler only needs one big WR in Chi and he'll be OK.

They dont have the same defense now that they had in 2006 either.
They also had Berrian that year as a serious deep threat and Hester was able to find the endzone in the return game.
