Toast The Jeremy McGovern love thread

I've just caught the replay of the game on the weekend over here and there is a lot to like about the kid.

Hopefully he continues to flourish as the season progresses.

In regards to the early AA talk – I can't see it happening. If Mackenzie missed out after the season he had last year, McGovern is no chance.

The media are talking about McGovern. Emac does his job with little fuss.

It's been proven time and again that AA is a popularity contest.

Sure and Mackenzie is an understated defense first player. McGovern is a contested marking machine, brilliant on the intercept and has a long raking boot that when on song cuts through defensive zones better than Harry Taylor. There is substance to their fapping.

Individual awards just add an extra element to the season. They are like small wins. Its good to see our players do well and get recognised.
But these awards are just names written on a whiteboard by a bunch of 'experts'.

It's not like winning the Coleman Medal for actually kicking the most goals.

It's arbitrary bullshit and it's absurd that people spend all season talking about it as though it counts for something.

And then people get 'outraged' when it's finally announced. Like when Mackenzie missed out last year. Who gives a shit?

If nothing else it helps to verify we arent completely deluded and bias about some of our own players. And when we arent doing so well, its good to have the small wins.

Or if Priddis wins the Brownlow it simply splits the fans in two!

It definitely doesn't hold its weight like other awards but its still the official team of the year. I dont really care if our players aren't chosen though. It think its way to early to be talking about the team. Locking people in after 4 games is a bit stupid.

Calling something 'official' makes all the difference, doesn't it?

Do you know who actually sits on the selection committee?

People have always been dumb.
Indeed. But I think they are more susceptible to groupthink than they once were.

I mean, a bunch of 'experts' are going to sit down and come up with a list of 22 players and tell people that's important. And people will then act like it's important because they've been told it is.

Why on earth would anyone give two shits about this?

It's on par with the abject nonsense of the Allan Border Medal. Just get on with it and stop making up bullshit awards.

I love McGovern as well. I don't need dipshits like Luke Darcy to squeeze out a turd onto a sheet of paper to signify their agreement.

Yes, but that's just because you think you know more than Luke Darcy. That's entirely possible and well, good for you. The medals are for every other person out there who enjoys showing appreciation through an award.

There will be people who agree and people who disagree with the choice of the awardees, but hey, I guarantee that 90% of the time they get it right every time.

Showing appreciation through an award? What is this?

Do people just swallow any old bullshit these days?

Just because you and I don't give a shit Sweet Jesus doesn't mean others can't. ;)

Yes, but this is a forum where bullshit flies. It's simply par for the course.

Christmas 2 has been testing through the roof.

On a serious note, I wonder if Priddis will win Handball Of The Year.

I reckon Naitanui is a big show for Best Smile. About time, too. Those experts wouldn't know a great smile if it shat in their mouths.
