The title of this thread says it all really. Hawthorn never quite managed to kick us when we were 'up' did they; that is, between 1999 and 2004 when we were playing in the finals each year and knocking the Hawks off with relative ease every time we played them. In fact, before 2005 Essendon had defeated Hawthorn in 13 of their past 14 encounters, and as all Essendon supporters know this is the source of their obsessive hatred towards us.
