2005 and 2012, skipped weddings for the game.
1996, 2006, 2014, 2016 and 2022 no weddings.
FFS someone invite me to a wedding on Grand Final Day so I can skip it.
I'm just waiting to hear back from Rihanna. If I get the reply saying we're on, I'll let you know.

You could say that about anyone.

Gawn goes down for Melbourne, they're stuffed.

Pies have injuries and are struggling because of it.

Giants have copped a number of injuries and are struggling.

Cats are starting to get a few back but Cameron and Danger out impacts them a heap.
Except we've used the least amount of players this season. Used 27, next best was 30.

Our depth hasn't been tested

I don't think any team can get far if they have mass injuries that seriously test their depth. Weight of numbers will almost always win out and there's been very few premiers if any that aren't at close to full strength.

As far as our best/most important players go, I think we could still win the flag if one of them goes down, but I think it would have to happen a fair while enough before the grand final to give us time to prepare & adapt our game plan around their absence and/or for their replacement (if there is one) to find their feet.

In other words, if God forbid a McCartin or a Rowbottom or a Grundy is going to go down with a season-ending injury, I'd prefer it happen sooner rather than later.

Of course I'd rather it just not happen at all.

Absolutely you can, but that has no sway on what the poster is saying.

Having said that, there has been a lid-shaped hole in my ceiling for some weeks now.

nah we'll just play underdone senior players in the grand final regardless.

Brisbane barely a injury during their top 4 runs now have multiple ACLS and are sitting in 13th.
Richmond barely a injury their peak have something like 20 on their list injured.

Luck and timing is everything no club can achieve success if your missing 6-7 of your best every week the competition is way to close and we are freakin due on the luck department.

Current form we should take down anyone but I feel we're only a couple injuries away from falling apart.

Grundy goes down we don't have a replacement for him.

I'm also not convinced we'll play well if Amartey, McLean or McDonald go down. They're important for our structure

Blakey also drives a lot of our rebounds out of defence. We'd have a big drop should be go down
If McCartin and Mills go down we'r.... Oh wait.

I don't think that's countering my point though. My point is you can say about anyone that if they get a half dozen injuries to key players that side will struggle. No one's under any illusions about that.

For what it's worth I don't think Ladhams is an awful back up to Grundy if he needs a rest for a handful of games, and is far better depth than Melbourne have in the ruck. We also have McAndrew who was serviceable. Up forward I wouldn't hate seeing Buller get another go, although I think an argument could be made that playing with two keys and Hayward isn't the end of the world.

It also 'helps' your point about the least players used that Parker, Adams and Mills were injured pre-season rather than in-season, but Adams coming back in has already showed that we have options. Mills when he's back is another player we have to fit in somehow, as well as McCartin. If anything our issue is finding the right balance and mix of our available players rather than worrying too much at this stage about hypothetical injuries.

You sound like you are starting to count the chickens before they hatch.
We are indeed in a good position.
A win over Geelong might make me start counting chickens.

For me, the lid won’t be off until we win that premiership. The last 3 gf losses has stung me.

After seeing us piss away 2 grand finals and seeing us completely dudded/cheated in 1 then I won’t be going off my head about us until
We win it all.

If that day comes then I will be lidding off like a mofo.

Ok, just out of curiosity. Who here has alreday pre booked accommodation in Melbourne for Grand FInal weekend?
Guilty! My son and I have already booked flights (on frequent flyer points, very low cost to cancel) and ‘free cancellation’ accommodation on Booking. com … it’s a no-brainer tbh. And yes we had already paid up for the GF bonus in our memberships 🤗

So only one thing left now … 😬🙏
