Lobbe just needs some mongrel and belief. He has the work rate and has a decent kick. He just seems to look like he is trying to be technically correct with everything he does where if he just played with desperation like Jacko he could really break out.

Maybe having Jacko show him how its done this year will have a positive effect next year.

Maybe not though
Not sure he's that type of player...

Lets not compound our ruck issue by getting rid of a AFL standard ruckman.

We're not talking about getting rid of an AFL standard ruckman, we're talking about getting rid of Lobbe.

Lobbe took a lot of the taps and more to advantage than useful. The only problem is that Keegan Brooksby is no more than a good SANFL ruckman, and is also 3 centimetres shorter than Lobbe. What was hopeful though, was that Lobbe handled the ball on the ground pretty well.

Sam Jacobs looks like he's going to be an irrelevant ruck in the AFL soon, it makes what Lobbe did last weekend less impressive.
Sam Jacobs looked like he was playing injured. He's got 2 more years, IMO, before he does slow down to be useless around the ground, Lobbe style (even injured Jacobs still beat Lobbe around the ground).

Poor Lobbster.

But how can a guy that big get shifted out of marking contests like he's a feather duster?
He looks to have considerably put on size. Don't be surprised if Lobbe actually takes his game to a new level next year. Everyone has already completely written him off, he clearly hasn't.

Lobbe actually holds his place in contested situations pretty well. It's the fact that he can't read the flight of the ball that lets him down.

Really? I think it's the complete opposite. He jumps for a mark without bracing or allowing for any body contact whatsoever so gets shunted off the ball like a flea. Happens every time yet he always looks surprised and annoyed after.

Have we ever got him to have his eyes checked, ala Danyle?

May just need contact lenses

Any guy with a lick of pride would be hurting after the pasting he's had and desperate to atone. Would be a great buddy choice

If he can be the old Lobbe of 2013/14 then we have a very good backup.

I will put any money on him starting Round 1. Ken loves him and believes there is room for him in the side at his full potential.

If that is the case then the answer to Ken's question 'What did we learn?' is obviously 'Absolutely nothing'.

Ryder is our ruck though. Lobbe can't play up forward.

Also depends on what level you are starting from? If you start in the negative I'm not sure how he could be judged/measured 'going to a new level' .
Yes we can hope but unfortunately I think Lobbe's is now a plodder and will get left behind. But I sure would love to be proved wrong as it would mean we have 4 Rucks: Ryder, Frampton, Ladhams, Lobbe and pinch hitter if required Trengove. Much healthier than last year which I feel was the major cause of our shitty year.
