Geez I think you might loose your money. I have been watching replays and when Lobbe moves players go past him at twice the speed lol
Yea I am not saying I agree with it, however I can just see it happening. I would prefer he starts in the SANFL too, however I believe Ken will give him the opportunity early to prove himself. Ken will back him in, he tends to do this with the experienced players on the list.

I observed Lobbe up close this year when he was injured and doing ball drills at an oval near me.

Lobbe was absolutely massive, and comfortably doing 20m handballs on both sides of his body to Jonas who was collecting the ground balls and passing them back.

It's hard to believe that this was the same Lobbe that has been meekly tussled out of ruck contests by so many opponents in the last two seasons. Just staggering that he was firing handballs with such power and ease, but never seems to be able to demonstrate any of his obvious strength and skill on match day. I've watched him miss targets by hand under no pressure on match day but in the confines of a suburban oval he looked completely at ease.

I've been his biggest detractor, but after observing him in the flesh the guy has all the attributes of what should be a top 5 ruckman in the AFL, but whatever reason is consistantly the exact opposite to that.

I guess in 2017 there is a bit of a conundrum on how we chose to play Lobbe if fit, Ryder returning from suspension and Trengove who seemed to revitalise that ruck role and make it his own this season.

We will see how much sway the fresh eyes and mind of Lade have in the selections.

THIS! It's all above the shoulders with Lobbe (as it has been with our other talls).

In rugby it would often be the case that training suited the little nippy ones. If a big guy put a hit on or used their size in training it was almost frowned upon. Obviously the aim is to avoid injuries, but as a big guy it gets frustrating that it's ok to use speed and agility, but not bulk and power.

I've never understood the ridicule toward Lobbe by fans. Yeah he might not be at the level of Ryder but to me he's a player who's been trying his best every game he plays and while I'm not advocating for him to return, I think he's been unfairly targeted by fans.

I'll put it out there - I wonder what the comparative output would be against Jacko if he was played in the same role this year.

Absolutely.

Lobbe has been playing absolute crap in the SANFL until the last few weeks. The past couple of games has been all anybody has wanted to see. I don't think he will come in but I would not knock the call if he did.

Not sure if ridicule is the right word, but it all boils down to his contract (decent money until the end of 2019), the fact he knocked back a trade that would've netted a 1st-rounder and the realisation that he's probably no longer AFL standard for the duration.

Fair point regarding his contract but he was offered that contract by the club at the time and he can't be begrudged for that.
In regards to him knocking back the trade that was his prerogative as he is under contract.
