Never got the signings right to replace Grealish. Heard there was a bit of mutiny behind the scenes also.

Wonder if Norwich would look at him actually.
Surely Norwich have someone already lined up as he was gone pre-game, pre-international break.

Almost a quarter of Premier League managers gone and we are still 6 or weeks away from Christmas. Bloody Hell

I wonder what the record is for most managerial changes in one season.

Ole is only a matter of time and who knows with Rafa if points don’t start coming in with the majority of fan base against him from the start. Dyche maybe lucky he got a long term son tract extension not long ago, but stranger things have happened

Would be a bad move for Smith. Relegation on your CV doesn't look good and Norwich are ****ed

Harsh after what he did and what they lost in the summer, but results are results.

Apart from last season he has been pretty average for them. Stayed up because of a goal line tech malfunction.

They played some pretty good football last season with a decent squad. This season they've been poor but I'd say any of the sides outside the big 3 would struggle with losing their talisman and then injuries to a few key players.

That's why I said 'apart from last season'. ;)

Yeah I know I just think its a very harsh call on Smith.

You'd like to think the 38 games should buy a bit more than 11 games goodwill going into the next season, especially when the main man has been replaced by 3 good players who have all missed parts of the season with injury. I'd love to know what they expected to happen in the first 11 games. Did they think it was just going to run smoothly with new players? How many times have we seen this where players take time bedding into a new club or league. Buendia, Bailey and Ings I'm sure will turn out to be great signings but have missed between 2-5 out of the first 11 games. As has Watkins.

Heard Frank Lampard is the bookies favorite for the Norwich job?
Hear me out on this. But I actually think this is a good move for Lampard. Bit of a free hit this season since everyone assumes they go down. And their chairmen has shown that they will back their manager and allow them time to work their style into the playing group and he will probably have them back up in 12 months.

If he brings them back up then fine, but having a relegation on the CV regardless of the context (and to be fair it's still only November and they're only 5 points off safety) is still a big stain.

I like this, gives him a chance to see what he can do with a lower PL club battling relegation which really should've been his next gig after Derby. Chelsea was too soon even of he did get us 4th in his first season. Plus Gilmour will be guaranteed game time.

Was chatting to someone on Twitter the other week who is a massive Villa fan.

He told me that a big result of Villa's downfall was because of John Terry leaving Dean Smith' s coaching stuff.

This guy is a very smart person (is a professional write who has several published books and audio dramas) so I think what he says does probably make a lot of sense.

Despite his colourful debut on Twitter over the weekend (which was hilarious), John Terry should be considered as a manager in the next year or two.

For other club projects definitely. But Norwich have shown with Farke they'll accept a relegation and return and don't just look at the form and make a quick decision. I know the gap is only 5 points but this is by far the weakest squad, not exactly a squad playing below their best with great upside to come from a manager sacking mid season.

I think this sort of move is better for him than say going to Villa where anything less than top half from where they are (6 points behind but with a top half quality squad) is a failure and would look like a X against his name. For a pretty inexperienced manager having these 27 games plus another 20-30 next season to establish himself at the club is a better fit than instant improvement that would be required elsewhere

His other ideal position would be at a new project in the Championship where the club gives him some time to get a base sorted and then push for promotion. This is just a head start on that by doing that with an already well established Championship quality squad

Sure I more mean having a relegation on your CV can be a barrier for jobs later down the line. He'd be gambling on getting them back up and keeping them up probably, which is a three season project. He didn't take on Palace because of the relegation risk, this seems even riskier.
