Poch to United would be Interesting. Not yet proven as a top level manager and the pressure to succeed will be huge.

As with Conte he'd need to glazers to keep throwing money at the squad. Would need 2 CMs, a CF and a decent/solid CB.
Who is the solid CB they have already?

Who said he was superior to Mou? Just that he improved United from the situation Mou left it in.

Did he? At least You had an identity.

A proper coach will straighten United out pretty quickly. it is clear that all structure had broken down under Ole - all United need is a bit of work rate and structure and they will be away. There is too much talent for them not to be.

Ole had an identity too, but people can't handle a big club being a counter attacking side as it doesn't work particularly well against lower opposition.

Solskjaer leaving United with a better squad than when he took over isn’t worthy of praise, it’s actually even more damming because they are performing as bad as they ever have post-Ferguson. You shouldn’t be applauded just because you spent a load of money on great players.

I get that he “improved the vibe” around the club when he took over, but he leaves the club as low as it has ever been.

Agree to disagree. Think Mourinho had the club far lower, as did van Gaal. United have had some embarrassing losses in the last month but they finished second last season, they aren't as much of a basket case as some seem to think.

Think it's part of the modern mentality of managers either being kings or frauds, with no nuance in between.

So united have appointed Carrick as a caretaker manager until an interim manager can be found. Which decent manager would leave their job to go and manage united on an interim basis knowing full well a long term manager will be appointed in the summer. What a cluster f*** of a club.

I don't think they expect someone to leave a club to come and be the interim manager. That's a weird take.

So what class of manager do you expect to approach for the interim position. Someone with no experience in management like carrick and fletcher or someone a level or two up like pardew or big sam. Don't understand what they want to achieve with an interim appointment. The caretaker is the interim. Surely you would be looking to appoint a long term manager now.

Behind the scenes I think they are definitely seeing who can be shaken free, I imagine they are targeting Poch right now but will wait if need be. They aren't looking at a contracted manager to be the interim.

Carrick will likely be seen as too similar to Ole but with a few good results might be like Giggs and stick around until the end of the season.

Exactly, Ronaldo/Cavani/Rashford/Greenwood should be enough for the next 4 years or so for them. Plus Martial as a backup.
Only Cavani is a true CF out of that lot

Only manager since Fergie left not to win a trophy at United apparently (least what I read on twitter)

I am trying to remember what silverware Moyes won with them.

Also there have been lower points in MUFC history before, unfortunately most modern fans like yourself have never experienced or seen the club been relegated.

The club also seemed to be in a bad/lean patch before Fergie took over.

Hate to mention this but Feburary 6 1958 would be the lowest/darkest point in United's history, and English Football tbh (from a player tragedy perspective)

I know the Ole era as manager was very disappointing for most Red Devils, but as I point MUFC have survived much worse low points in their history and flourished.

The Glazers are a pain in the ass i admit.

Beats me how the Supporters can get them out of the club unless they buy them out (which seems unlikely at this point in time)

It will be very funny when Carrick wins a few games, gets the main gig, gets an extension late next season, then gets sacked the same as Ole :p

On a more serious note, if you were manager of United what formation would you go with and how would you achieve it?

Surely they can build a pretty good 4-3-3 with VDB in the team, a motivated Pogba with a clear roll, and players who are willing to work.

I know we got rolled but the VDB and Sancho link up on the weekend was so good to watch. Those two must always start.
