Deserved to be sacked then on that alone. I understand their decision now, very logical.

Why would he leave a place he is comfortable, has the team playing well and has a lot of control for the merry go round that is Chelsea. He could go from the 2nd safest job in the league behind Pep to one of the riskiest. Going to a player power club with an owner without a track record in the prem seems a bad career move imo.

You may think differently but I would have thought Potter would want a preseason with the players to get them playing his system.

Who can know the minds of men.

Obviously he'd be on a far higher wage than he is now which when you have a family can set multiple generations up for life.

Chelsea really don't seem to offer the kind of environment he likes to work within but maybe the basket case scenario might appeal to him as a challenge.

It might be his one chance to move to a big club though
Possibly. If things go badly at Brighton then it could turn into an Eddie Howe scenario. Personally, if we wants a new challenge I'd look at West Ham. Less expectation and should be given plenty of time. If he pushed West Ham close to top 4 then he'd be in line for that big job. We don't know if he wants that though. He may be more than comfortable with how things are going at Brighton and want to get them to Europa League.

Howe is managing Newcastle now tho?

It's not his one chance.
Not that it looks likely currently but if Brighton's season falls away and they end midtable or worse then some of the shine comes off him and may stop a big club from calling.
The other big clubs look pretty set for managers for the time being. Pep and Klopp have pretty much however long they want. ETH just arrived so unless it falls apart should be safe for awhile. Arsenal seem like they are going to back Arteta in. The most volatile is probably Conte and that is more about the manager than the club at this stage

Curious, why?
Because Boehly seems a little clueless… impulsive whereas Potter seems one of the more considered and intelligent managers around

You can take the Chelsea out of Abramovich, but you can’t take the Abramovich out of Chelsea. That’s an amazing decision. After investing that heavily in the transfer window in players largely selected by Tuchel (Aubameyang a prime example), they sack him a week after the window closes. Incredible.
