Only 2 and a half years. At least that will save them on the payout in 12-18 months

Sound decision considering there were more years on David Moyes’ Manchester United contract than there have been years since it expired. He was sacked in 2014.

Well they shouldn't have given EtH that 1 year extension when he was already contracted for this year - their own fault.

Goodwill extension after winning the FA Cup. That goodwill ended when the owners realised he is still a crap manager.

The thing was they held a discussion about whether he was the right man to take them forward and then gave him an extension. Bizzare

Wouldn’t even make the top 20 list of most bizarre things this club have done in the last 11 years. :p

Obviously they were good results for Jose but the gap at European level has increased exponentially in that time. Porto beat Celtic in extra time in that final. Celtic copped 7 against a Bundesliga team the other day. Completely not comparable for teams outside of the big 3 or 4 leagues these days.

I agree the gap has increased but 'exponentially' gets randomly tossed into discussions.

Last season Porto finished level with Barca in the CL group stage and only lost to Arsenal on penalties. I'm not saying Porto would have won the CL but they were competitive against the teams that finished 2nd in the PL and La Liga. Maybe with Jose at the wheel they could have gone all the way.

Given his relatively poor record in European competitions the jury is out about whether Amorim has what it takes to succeed at the highest level.
