Out of interest, could you give me a percentage figure of precisely how much more meaningless this thread or the videos in the OP are than - for example - the sport of Aussie rules?
You don't have to look far to find people who think that sport is a waste of time, that's for sure.

But I'd be happy to put it up against that shit every day of the week.

The problem you're running into is that both support of sport - or Aussie rules, which is even more niche - and enjoyment of this sort of content is subjective. You might not think it worthwhile, but others might.

You're not even compelled to click on the thread, if it doesn't interest you.

If the point of your posting in here was to note your disinterest, consider it noted.

It's interesting the way that some people want to engage with the very existence of a thread (in this case one on toxic manosphere weirdos), rather than engaging with the content.

Interesting.

I've got no problems with the thread.

Its just a bunch of nobodies playing the algorithm game for clicks. I've got a problem with the ecosystem that rewards some of this rubbish to take place. In a perfect world the Tate's of the world would die on the vine. Unfortunately the internet peaked in 2006 and it's been all downhill since.

You're basically saying it has no connection to reality.

I'm sure the women on the receiving end of the damage these guys do to their little legion find it very connected to real life.

Sounds like some sort of rabbit hole. Also those response videos look annoying as well.

The key is to adjust your algorithm by blocking such content.

Youtube and social media want you to be endlessly scrolling and reacting to rage bait. A glance at these videos in this thread also show that they're engineered to grab attention with sensational titles and images. I imagine it becomes very easy to lose perspective under such a constant assault.

The manosphere is a heterogeneous group of online communities that includes men's-rights activists (MRAs), incels (involuntary celibates), Men Going Their Own Way (MGTOW), pick-up artists (PUAs), and fathers' rights groups. Some of these groups have adversarial relationships with one another.
Dude it's all misogynist grifting red pill bullshit

Fair point. But I don't think it's helped by a bunch of randoms feeding off the outrage. In fact it just might boost his engagement etc.

Maybe I'm a bit too angry.

I think Hasan made the point that that horse has bolted. Tate had a network of YouTubers trying to get their $5 affiliate payment long before this thread appeared.

I think Tate warrants discussion because of the infiltration he’s getting everywhere. His message isn’t exactly groundbreaking (although I would argue it’s got more venom and overt hatred and aggression towards women and progressives than any that have come before him) but it’s showing up in young impressionable men from primary school and up.

That’s pretty concerning.

It's correct to dislike Tate, and see him for what he is, pointing out his fraudulent business dealings, and his abuse of women if true. "At least" he's upfront and doesn't snivel or try to pretend to look better, like his words are being misconstrued (like what Hartley does). Sometimes tho the attackers can come off looking badly too. Thinking they're earning brownie points, and probably only trying to boost their social media platform algorithms too.

I mainly enjoyed seeing Russell Hartley getting called out and pushed back on, because I saw his stuff ages ago and smelled a rat. And he looks like he got taken apart by his critics, found out his lies, and got him super defensive and dancing for excuses.

The whole environment is pretty sad tho. Numbskull charlatans with regressive attitudes/opinions and making money off incels and idiots. And numbskull virtue signalers with a degree of fakeness making money off the mob leftists.

I would argue that discussion something that one enjoys (eg sport) is healthier than discussing outrage fuel. I'm not saying that such topics should be censored or not ever called out, but I believe that the obsession over social media villains tends to only make said villains stronger... while often having a detrimental effect on those discussing it.

I believe it was Scallop Industry Thug who said years ago that Milo Yiannopolous "would be nothing without the left", and I agreed. He made his money by being loathed.

I wasn't defending it.
No you eere trying to apoear intelligent and knowledgeable by regurgitating wirds you read online with understanding anything.

Mansplaing the manopshere as it were

I just posted what "manosphere" is according to google. Not sure what the problem is.

While I certainly take your meaning, Kane Cornes would like a word.

I thought everyone was making fun of him and that's why I was seeing more of him, until only a few days ago I found out that a lot of people like him.

I don't get the appeal. I feel second hand embarrassment when I hear him speak lol
