Mcg had redevelopement in 2004 limiting capacity. Vic WA and SA would all sell out Grand finals multiple times over no matter who is playing

That would explain the 2004 - 2005 crowds, even given those Grand Finals were exclusively non-Vic teams.

Yep honestly feel sorry for dees fans just doesn’t feel the same celebrating a drough breaking win in Perth when your club is based and main support base is in Melbourne
If I was a Melbourne fan I would still feel over the moon but I’m sure there is still a little part in all dees supporter that “imagine if it was at the mcg”

How early the fruit is falling this year. The WA Grand Final was as exciting as watching concrete set. Fireworks at night do not make an exciting Grand Final presentation. When the game returns to its rightful place at the MCG, perhaps the AFL can make it a day of football as it once was? Football should be played all day ! Start games in the morning and build-up to the main event.

then hearing eddie McGuire complain about not going. (breaking his 47 year streak). I will probably never go to another gf in my lifetime. But, i've now been to one and i'm now unbelievably jealous.

One thing I really liked about last night was having two non-WA sides in the finals, resulting in a great crowd atmosphere with both sides having strong support.

If it were Eagles or Freo, despite adopting freo as my local side, the support balance would not have been right for atmosphere.

Perth did a pretty good job, 100% better than having it at the Gabba
But two Victorian teams at the mcg Victoria missed a huge opportunity
Demons deserved to win it Melbourne/Vic.

The only thing that could have improved the spectacle last night, to lift it from the greatest grand final hosted ever, to perfect would have been to replace the sherrin with the burley!

I watched it on TV and it was nothing special, especially when you said it would put the MCG to shame,.

One never gets that atmosphere by just sitting at home and watching it on TV - ridiculous comment to say there was no atmosphere when you weren't at the game. I have been to GF's at the MCG and watched it live and have watched many on TV here back home. No comparison as being able to watch a game live is just so much better. The same would go by being able to be there at Optus Stadium last night in comparison to you watching it on TV. You have no idea!
