no, its great that its not going to happen.
arbitrarily rotating is the worst idea of any, worse than just staying at the mcg. if we are arbitrarily rotating, 90% of the time neither team will be from the hosting state, and when it is it will be when it's at the mcg. literally noone but the stadium operators and neutrals will benefit. If we are going to take the step of moving the grand final from the mcg, whats the point of playing west coast vs adelaide at the gabba for no reason other than some brisbane locals might want to go?
there are only 2 options:
1 - Remain at the mcg, because its the biggest stadium (im not going to say best because everyone is simply going to argue theirs is the best), with the tradition of having hosted the grand final for decades, in the second most populous state/city in the country and home to half of the competition and more than half of the members/money.
2 - Move it to the state whose team won the home ground advantage by being the highest rating team.
Again, arbitrarily moving it around the country benefits noone but the money makers in that state and the neutral fans, in which case what is the point of moving it from the g.
Because it provides a boost to the game in that state that no other event could.
Hard for you to understand I know, but having seen it first hand, i'm more adamant than ever before the AFL ****ed up like it never has before by extending the MCG contract to kingdom come.
