Anyone see the back of todays cowvitiser?
There is 3/4 page pic devoted to some cow pick (maybe pick 400 or something) because he want to dress-up like a budgie or something, and the smaller pic of our much better pick because he wants to concentrate on playing football instead?

For better or worse, I caught a bit of the Saturday morning sports show today to listen to Blee's interview and to listen to Ginever.

Nathan Bassett was on and I caught a couple of snippets of him denigrating Brad Ebert by suggesting that he had shown little if any improvement since being drafted as an 18 yo. He went on to emphasise that the Crows had done the right thing in drafting Dangerfield over Ebert (can't disagree of course) and that Ebert was unlikely to ever be more than a good AFL player who might play 100 games for us but was not a match winner. He even mused that Ebert's future scope of improvement while playing for us could be very limited.

To be honest, based on what I've seen of Brad so far, I can't disagree that much with Bassett's comments, but I'd really love for he and his family to have heard these comments and to fire up to prove Bassett absolutely wrong.

haha I went to the AdelaideNow website to see what they'd written about the draft and the only story I see when the sports page opens up is about how he's the first player to ever have been the mascot. This is what passes as football journalism these days

And the mass overrating of Paddy Clangerfield throughout the AFL continues :thumbsu:

I listened to that part of the show, couldn't believe what I was hearing. It was like he was comparing Ebert with Judd. It stagers me how much Patty D is overrated in this state. The last straw was when he called us port power about 5 times within a few minutes. Port Power doesn't usually bother me but when he says it in his smug tone it reminds me of finger nails on a chalk board.

Hope Ebert heard the interview, like PJ I don't think he has much room to improve but maybe a bit of a shake up will see him become a better player.

As for Dangerfield - happy not to have him.

Ebert played as a sub for a lot of the year but if you take those games out I bet their stats would be very similar. Dangerfield is a worse user of the ball so yeah, its all hype.

Patrick Dangerfield. After 4 years on Adelaide's list, this much hyped, uber elite superstar averages 15 disposals per game and regularly goes missing when the Crows are under the pump. He is the very definition of a downhill skier, a front-runner. If the Crows are lucky this hype-machine will go back to Victoria sooner rather than later.

If he can rush for 1,000 yards next year they'll be a real shot of an NFC wildcard.

If he has as many aids as Andrew Beckett did then he'll be just fine.

This should serve as evidence to those Port supporters who were calling for Bassett to become an assistant at Port.

Bassett is about as big a Port hater as you could possibly get.

There is no way i would want him anywhere near my club

What you said. Plus the fact he borrowed Craig's coaching plan which came with the lack of Plan B in September for no extra charge.

Because he doesn't rate Brad Ebert?

I don't particularly rate Brad Ebert either, but I think the money and support that I put into the club would indicate that I'm not 'as big a Port hater as you could possibly get'.

My first thought when hearing Bassett rate Dangerfield so comprehensively ahead of Ebert (which was an unnecessary comparison by him anyway) was that he needed to get his Funk n Wagnall's and look up the word 'meretricious'.

He also needed to look up the word 'lactate' which he used incorrectly but that's another topic.

Geez for what it's worth I think bassetts comments were a fair and frank observation

So what was the trade

Ebert & Ahchee for McInnes & Daniel Pearce (this became Josh Hill)

Looking at this I dont know why he would be comparing his output to a number 10 pick as we only spent pick 28 on him and pick 28 is not what you pay for a star.

Ebert is no star but he will contribute to our team, brings a lot of what we dont have and if he can fix his kicking she will be very good.

I didn't hear the interview but Ebert is not an A grade footballer yet.

The thing is Neither is Dangerfield. The 1000 rushing yards sums him up extremely well.

I don't need to explain why th ebert and dangerfield comparisons are made and relevant

That's obvious

And with that in mind I thought it was a fair comment. Right now if the crows offered pat for brad, I would take it

With that said, I'm stoked to have brad and think he really will lift his game playing for th PAFC. I just think bassetts comments being discussed in this thread are fair and no reason to get offended

I said what I did because every time he opens his mouth about Port he slams us like a typical Crow loving Port hater.

He uses a condescending tone everytime he calls us Port Power. Piss poor articles about Port ruining the SANFL in the crowtiser.

I have never heard him say anything positive about us.

That's why i would never want this guy anywhere near my club.

I guess Geelong did make a play for Ebert and will wind up with Dangerfield, so ... :p

Oh yeah I'm with you there! I'm just talking about these 2 lines. 90%of what he says is trash. Definitely would love to see ebert add this interview to his motivation list and personally destroy patty and when he accepts the showdown medal pull out a "Nathan Bassett, you were wrong" lol
