Not sure where to put this.. the Lachie Neale to Brisbane thread is close. But a bit of spice added:
https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/br...g/news-story/88ce958b0d72ccfcc90f554353a92249

Lachie Neale believes Brisbane will win a flag before Freo.. oh boy.
From Neale's facebook page to his Mum;

"Did you see me on afl.com Mum? Reposting it here for you and the Brisbane fan (rumour has it we are getting another one next year) to share. Not that I want to be known by too many people because as the AFL's new Anonymity Ambassador, all I want is anonymity and to be able to walk down the street, especially the one where the bank is, without being recognised by the fan. Not that money had anything to do with it, but I still can't believe those bad Dockers only wanted to pay me what me and my Manager thought was what I was worth, when I am clearly worth more than that. Everyone knows I am worth more; I read about that in heaps of articles about me.

Gee I hope we do win a Premiership because I don't just want to be the AFL's Anonymity Ambassador I want to become the global face of Anonymity Anonymous."

The main concern I have for Brisbane is/was a bit similar to us. Both teams are/were fairly reliant on a 32+ yo ruck.

They have a 24yo back up (McInerney) who is more a ruck forward and has never had more than 18 hit outs in any of his 16 AFL games to date. And 23yo Archie Smith who didn't play a single AFL game last season and has only played 9 AFL games total in his career.

Our main backup is a 20yo Darcy who has been #1 ruck for us in 15 games and has averaged 33 hit outs (and is the clear best ruck under 22yo). We now have Lobb as a forward/ruck but he's proven he can play as a #1 ruck as well, so gives us a heap of flexibility. And we have Scott Jones and Lloyd Meek as backup as well - not world beaters but at least options.

Injuries/niggles to Sandilands crippled us in recent years but shouldn't have that impact anymore with Darcy maturing and Lobb at ruck/forward. I don't think I can say the same for Brisbane if Martin goes down. I think Brisbane have come a long way but being one injury away from disaster sounds a bit ominous to me (they've been ordinary despite Martin playing 20 or more games in the last 4 seasons). I think they've only won two games in the last 5 years without Martin, and both were in 2014 against two cellar dwelling teams (Carlton found a way to lose despite dominating hit-outs 70 to 16).

Before anyone stresses out... Brad Hardie = Macquarie radio

He was on there late last year talking about how toxic Ross and Rosich were.

I think people underestimate the impact Hodge had on the group last year. Without him it is a different proposition

Remember when everything was starting to look up for Brissy and then the '5' all left.
Remember when they finally started holding onto their players and then Schache (pick 2) left.
Remember when things started looking up, Hodge was player/coaching, they had very few injuries throughout the year and they only won 5 games.
Remember when in the off-season everything was looking good... then their previous captain lied to them and left.

I have no doubt things are looking up for them. But becoming a good side and maintaining that side is always going to be harder for them.

Looks like that outline.com has stopped working the hun paywall stuff.
Not sure if you were having the same issue as me but I found if you right-click on the article link from the news feed and 'copy link location' and paste that into the outline.com bar then that should work.

Previously, I was going to the article and then finding that the link in the address bar was the actual paywall instead of the link to the article..

Well it only took a total of 5min on the googlemachine to find Lach's Property... $1.8m. So I'm guessing it was more about the $$ coming out of Bris. Fully understand that, the careers are so short they should get what they can. Maybe he should wait until the season proper to sink the boots in though and see where we are all at haha.

Yes no issues with people making dollars when the time comes. But you still have to act with integrity. I actually thought that, as with Weller, he exited the club quite well. Helps that the club worked the trade and draft period beautifully. As someone interested in coaching in the future I definitely got an impression that he was protecting his "brand" a little. But anyone who thinks there wasn't a pocketful of silver involved is kidding themselves.

Can easily see them filling the Dees/Bombers slot of "side the Melbourne commentariat talks up every offseason only for the wheels to inevitably fall off."

Lachie said on Twitter, did you expect him to say "Freo are better"

Calling out Journos, obviously he has to say Brisbane are going to be good otherwise he can't justify the move.

I wouldn't take any of it to heart, Lachie certainly doesn't mean it that way
