Not sure if there has been that much progression. Squad is stronger, but it's a big job just to be standing still this off season with the likely departures.
We played a semi final and broke goal scoring records. So yes we progressed.

I've supported this side since day one and this season was our best we've had and our best chance at winning a trophy.

Played in a semi last year too. Same shit, different smell.

Yes and played better this season than last...

Progress was made.
Progress was made by the recruiting department who found the best striker this league has ever seen.

Apart from that we shipped more goals (despite having a better keeper) only finished one spot higher and bowed at at the same time by again copping a 3 goal hiding in a semi final.

Some progress.

If we hadn't struck gold with Fornarolli this season we would have struggled to make the top 6 with our leaky defence. Hopefully he stays. You would imagine Mooy would be off. Wilkinson was only on a 6 month deal, not sure what the loan deal with Caceras is?
Novillo might stay, had a pretty selfish last 3rd of the season though anyway and was detrimental at times with his reluctance to pass and try and be a hero.
Franjic?

I highly doubt our squad will improve over the off season, this squad should have won the league and at least made the GF.
A lot of questions over JVS.

There were reasons of course.
Missing crucial 3 players.
Having only 5 days between games.
Playing AU at their home, fresh and pumped.
Had we not "choked" we could have pinched top spot, but simply we are not that good.
Only time we were that good was when Novillo, Franjic, Zullo, Mooy, Bruno, Malik, Wilko, Sorensen, Caceres, Kisnorbo, and Fitzgerald were our starting 11.
That rarely occurred, but we were awesome when it did. Having to rely on Novillo cost us, as he was simply not there when we really needed him.
Franjic and Zullo also started the season injured and finished the season injured, hence the result.
We are clearly not a top 2 team, and could you imagine how long we would have lasted in the ACL?
We have improved this season, yet despite having possibly the best ever striker in A- League history, and a very exciting team, we rarely get > 10k fans to a game.
What will become of us if we do lose all of Mooy, Wilkinson, Novillo?
Time to heavily recruit again?
IMO, what cost us most this year was losing PAARTALU and MAUK.
Don't care what the arguments are against that, Mauk would have been the perfect Mooy replacement- watching him thrive at AU is enough evidence. Paartalu's fontal pressure has never been replaced.

And, of course, AU is the most balanced and complete true footballing team in the comp. If they do not win next weekend, I'll be stunned.

Apart from the result for City I hope you had a good trip over and had a good time.

Was short and not so sweet, but I love Adelaide and amazing atmosphere at Coopers.
And what a sight with that full moon above us.
Chatted to some ex Heart boys- Dugandzic and Babalj.

Aaron Hughes, Wade Dekker, Jason Trifiro, James Brown and Marc Marino have all been released by the club.
No huge surprises. I think Dekker and Marino have reasonably bright futures but I can see why they are not for us right now.

Kisnorbo announced his retirement last night live on the PL pre-game show. Big loss and good luck to him (will coach the Youth side).

I expected this. A few big name CBs floating around who are gettable from overseas.

So Kisnorbo and Wilkinson gone
Mooy and Novillo probably gone
Fornoroli has postponed contract talks?
Sorensen?
Caceres, Franjic ?

Wow

Why is Novillo gone? All indications is he'll be staying, is also contracted isn't he?
Bruno recently spoke about wanting to win the title with City, I don't think he'll be going anywhere. Will be given a nice pay increase.
Caceras will be staying. Was the plan all along after he signed for Man City.
Franjic was signed on a three year deal.
Sorensen will stay for another season, had a solid year and really seemed to love playing for us.
Mooy was destined to leave.

Ok good. That makes next season look a little better...
I heard Novillo and Fornoroli both put contract talks on hold.
Wasn't sure what the deal was with caceres and how long we were allowed to sign him on loan.

Who's the other bloke man city signed this year that is rumoured to be loaned to us next season (cant think of his name)

I think Novillo and Bruno are just chasing some extra cash and who could blame them.

Luke Brattan?
