I have to say A-League players don't seem to have the same loyalty as AFL players.
More likely to move clubs for a bit of extra coin, can't blame them i guess but there does seem more loyalty in AFL.
To a point that's true but there isn't the added international pull to lure players away from clubs in AFL.

AFL offers better contracts and more security
And, with a team like MC, clearly $ is the be all now. Had none, now plenty, yet still a salary cap. And really no history that a player would want to play for compared with traditional AFL teams.
Note that GWS & GC players leave very easily.
The club needs wins and championships

You missed his dominance this season with AU?
I srsly believe he helped turn their season around, and he's just a kid really.
Had a good finals series but a poor 6 or so games before that. He definitely helped turn it around but his best attribute is his defensive work, that's probably the only part we'll really miss imo. The rest is easily replaceable.

Any chance we keep Bruno?
He's asking for a LOT more than he was on which is fair enough- best player I've seen at A-League- but can we afford his demands?

Well I don't see why not, should be our marquee. At the end of the day he is contracted on his current wages for another season.

Agree, should be the marquee.
Some thoughts Tim Cahill has had an attitude change re A-League, and we are # 1 option.
I was hoping JVS would chat up Robin van Persie to come to Melbourne.

Don't want Cahill.

That would be wasteful to have all three plus Novillo. It would be different if it were a winger like Arjen Robben.

In the end, our line-up will look somewhat like:

Sorenson
Franjic - Chapman - ??? - Garrucio
Malik
Caceres - Melling
Novillo - Fornaroli - Kamau
We need to fill that Centre Half spot badly. By my calculations we have 1 or 2 visa spots left? Who would be a ~30 year old CB we can target from Europe?

Aaron Hughes...
unlikely Novillo at MC next year, very unlikely- wasn't he heading home, homesick etc??

Hughes retired I'm pretty sure, plus is well past it.

Malik should be CB. We should bring in a quality defensive mid.
Don't rate Melling as a starting 11 in a team aiming to win a title either.
