Turn it up mate. No one here wishes that on JVS. I've watched my father waste away with cancer and know how rough it is. Don't wish it on anyone.

However, we come here to discuss our club and many of us have been calling for his head for years. We have almost washed ourselves clean of the crap we used to produce on the pitch and he is the last survivor of that era (sorry Paulie).

We (a lot of us) with celebrate that he's finally left even though it's because of circumstances we feel bad for him for.
The so-called crap we used to produce on pitch- we were a new A-League team with embarrassing facilities. And still made finals in year 1.
I know many of you have been calling for his head for a long time, and you may well feel vindicated, just my personal pov differs, and I have always respected his wisdom, class, demeanour, and have never been embarrassed to have him at the helm.

No other team has best 11 quality we have with 3-4 quality subs. JvS had to produce with it.
And that he did this season until our defensive injuries.
No matter, you are POSSIBLY more correct than I am.

I'm a big fan of JvS and sad to see him go.

Don't think we need to attack opposition supporters who come in here respectfully.

Given the reasons, I'm disinclined to be harsh about this. JVS is going home to be with his dying father. That's a tough gig and my heart goes out to him.
I don't think anyone here would disagree.

Here's what I wrote on the General chat thread before you flogs started cheering it.

The Age are reporting that Van't Schip has resigned immediately to return to Europe and help look after his dying father.

I clearly don't have any time for City or the CFG, but that's a pretty shitty circumstance for anyone to have to give up their job.

So my sorrow for his situation predicated any of you flogs on this thread cheering it.

You shouldn't generalise your own small minded inability to see beyond club colours to other people.

Well I wasn't aware of the circumstances of the resignation. Nor did I celebrate it. Just posted that he was gone. Didn't even say it was a good or bad thing, although I do think it's an important turning point for the club.

Others posted that it was a shame he was gone, but for the best. Others acknowledged his contribution but said it was for the best. None of that is remotely like celebrating someone's illness.

You jumped the gun, and saw the opportunity to have another crack at City and their supporters.

So you commented before knowing the circumstances around his resignation... but it was me who jumped the gun?

Ok

Posting that the manager and club had parted ways after an official announcement by the club was jumping the gun?

You're a strange lad.

Clearly I'm dealing with an intellectual heavyweight here.

You posted, and I responded to:
What's your issue here?

Moomba only mentioned that JvS had resigned. Not really sure why you're trying to fight with people here in our team thread.

I saw that JVS had resigned so I posted it here.

Not sure how thats jumping the gun. But I'm not surprised that you've found fault with it. Bit of a thing with you isnt it?

Any preferences for our next manager?

IMO Milicic is the best candidate having served lengthy apprenticeships under JVS, Popovic and most importantly Ange. The only thing he hasn’t done is coach a team himself but he’s certainly got everything you’d want otherwise.
I think Gombau is the most likely however; CFG have certainly been positioning him for a while. Wait and see.

I personally would love Gombau. Just the passion he showed during his stint at Adelaide excited me

No, just no. Last thing we need is another attacker. Defenders first please

Technically we cant sign a defender as an injury replacement... Its supposed to be like for like.
And tbh we dont have a wealth of wingers on the list, as seen my Genreau playing the last two games.

I'm predicting a standard 4-4-2
Sorenson
Franjic-Jakobsen-Tongyik-Muscat
Kamau-Kilkenny-Brattan-Colazo
Fornaroli-Cahill

I'd be going with:

Sorenson
Franjic - Jakobsen - Tongyik - Muscat
Kilkenny
Kamah - Colazo
Brattan
Cahill - Fornaroli
