When did you start watching footy

Probably just after that one season where swallow was good.

As soon as he lost a bit of the little pace he had he was finished. Most of his career was very vanilla

Agreed. Doesn't make him an average footballer in line with this thread.

How about adding something constructive like why you think Swallow was such a good footballer?
He was average post Achilles.
But from 2009-13 he was one of the games best inside midfielders. Hardly considered average.

Gotta agree, maybe he underachieved a bit towards the end of his career, given his previous success and he retired at only 30, but between 2009 and 2013 he was very good, three B&Fs and averaged 99, 106, 112, 109, and 101 in SC (obviously not a perfect rankings system but it's favourable to Swallow). Averaged 25 disposals in two of those five seasons and over 21 in four of the five, with gaudy tackling numbers (average per game each season of 6.9, 8.3, 6.6, 7.1, and 6.3) and was a solid three marks per game. Wouldn't have minded having him brought to the bombers for next season too much, we need some more inside grunt and he could have definitely helped tutor guys like Mutch, Langford, Laverde, Clarke, Guelfi etc.

The Poodle owns this title
105 mediocre games over 9 years for two clubs
His biggest claim to fame being that he used to fold his socks in a manner to cover up one of the colours every game

What a weird Hunt .

Michael Doughty
Jason Torney
Kris Massie

Must be something about half back flankers..

Bit Harsh on Torney , thought he was rock solid and Doughty was very good later in his career which surprised me .

Massie had that game on Buddy in the wet and then genius Craigy played him on the big fella again come finals time on a dry deck at the G .

That was AVERAGE !!

All time Average player for the Crows is Nathan Van Berlo , Below average player David Mackay .

You may want to re-read the OP, as this is not average in terms of poor. ;)

Was never the same post achilles and definitely lost a yard of pace which caused him to get a case of the fumbles in 2016. I thought though he reinvented himself a bit towards the end of 2017 when he was played in the middle again with the confidence to back his instincts in and not on the half forward flank where we were trying to find a spot for him.

TBH he had a bit to offer in terms of protecting younger mids and I was amazed the Suns didnt think he would be an asset - either as a leader or depth. Definitely had a bit to offer at this level in 2018 but the game doesnt wait for any one in Andrews case.

Chris Heffernan.. came as part of the Woewodin deal and at one stage was tipped as a potential Essendon captain after representing Australia in the international rules series in 2000.

Was a giant major flop for the dees! Dead set could not hit a target from 10m out and was just generally a training cone on the footy field.

I feel like this thread needs more Gary Morrcroft mentions.........

Take out the time the midget climbed Mt Johno would anybody remember who he was? 98 Games, 104 Goals all pretty average stuff!

Patrick Veszpremi - who? Pick 11 picked over Cyril Rioli by Sydney.
Cale Morton - weak as piss, pick 4 lol.
Bradd Dalziell - shit player but worthy of being in this list just for having 2 "D's" in his first name.
Jack Anthony - Head looks like someone whacked it with a spade a couple of 100 times.
Simon Taylor - The definitive edition of the "tall meathead", you just knew when he got it something was going to go wrong.
Guy Rigoni - sounds like a pasta.
Brendan Krummel - lol nostalgia also sounds like some bad American snack.
Craig Treleven - lol same as above
Beau Dowler - Looks like we picked him straight up out of a Yooralla centre, played worse. Should be Beau Downer.
Beau Muston - Hawthorn realising that players require their knees to play football.

But not one of these above mediocre blokes compare to this final guy.....

It would have been worth making AFL just for the chance to clean this flog up....

Has to be the most overrated player/person/captain ever to disgrace my television set. The arrogance was unreal.

Seriously? Maxwell had an overinflated sense of his own worth and ability, and his demonstrative gestures towards the umpires every time he conceded a free kick was grating.

But he was clearly a very good captain who thoroughly deserved his AA selection. His intercept mark in the dying minutes of the 2010 drawn GF which set up the last goal of the game literally prevented a St Kilda flag.

And here you have the predictable, brainless, totally missing the point, Collingwood hating response that bigfooty always provides.

He also denied Reiwoldt of goal in the last quarter.
