When Harley is in Tongala he's going to be fuming at not playing. He will want a one way trip to Perth/Next game asap.

I want to appeal to 1. In saying that a home game with a fuming Harley reid at Optus in his return is delicious

I'd call one week "fair" in the current AFL climate and rulings. 2 weeks for a tackle when the player gets up, takes their kick then plays out the game is just crazy.
Big two down to one, we don’t play favourites with stars energy.

Hogan punched a bloke in the head this year but he didn’t get injured so no weeks. It’s a very peculiar part of our league, the MRP

Just came out of Furiosa and you're exuding real Mad Max energy my friend. If the apocalypse happens tomorrow I want to be in your biker clan.
Sick of the chop and choose attitude they have to protecting the head for example.

Kids are devastated they won’t see Harley play against Essendon. I’m a bit devastated myself.
He will have to learn from that tackle, I’m glad there was no serious injury to Darcy which is one good thing.

Sigh
I was hoping for 1 which would've been a more reasonable outcome

I'm flying over for the Ess/WCE game sigh
We have had a horrible run with the MRP lately and yet I still hope we challenge on principle

We should certainly appeal and at least get it to one week since Wilson got up and played out the game just fine. However if Wilson enters concussion protocols due to delayed onset concussion then Reid would be in trouble and the chances of getting it down to one week is very slim and we likely won't appeal.

Yeah we’re going with a few families, lots of both Essendon and Eagles kids will be with us and they have been super excited. For that reason alone I want the 1 but I accept the 2 if that’s what it is. Sadly.

I do as well, but the point is we shouldn't have to.
It was a straight up 1 weeker.

My problem with all these suspensions now is that the AFL are not offering up what the alternative is.
It’s but good enough to just say do t do something. The AFL need to come out and say please watch video and it shows clearly that Harley had 4-5 other options he could have chosen as shown in video.
It’s so easy to just say do t do it after watching replays but in real life that’s nit reality.
His only other option in my opinion was to not tackle at all and that’s not reality.

Aww should be a great game to go to regardless

I also hope we challenge for Harley’s sake too - that extra week means he misses a chance to play in front of his own family

Wasn't your typical sling tackle. Wilson had both arms free.

The AFL cannot legislate against accidents happening.

We have to challenge.

Players no longer expect contact in a footy ground, they run around like limp ragdollls and hence get hurt if they fall over or are pushed over. Being tackled is like mass murder to them.

We are slowly seeing the AFL change from the game it once was. They need to protect the head but being a contact sport, injuries are going to happen. Reids only other option is to not tackle.

2 weeks is ridiculous. 1 week would be fair enough but even that would be harsh.

Zero weeks is fair enough.
It was a legitimate tackle. Didn't pin his arms and drive his head into the ground.

Ben Dixon calling out the MRP for inconsistency and felt that 2 weeks was too harsh.

I didn't think there was anything in that, he didn't lift him up and dump him.

He ran and got in front of Wilson who cuts inboard, he turns and grabs the back of his jumper, throws him towards the boundary and he goes over his leg.

Didn't feel like he got driven into the ground. It's the motion of the player cutting inboard followed by throwing him towards the boundary.

Not sure what his alternative is there. The way Reid lands on his side and not his front shows to me he's not turning and driving him downwards, just throwing him out of bounds.

I was expecting 1-week though because the AFL would see head hitting the ground and not care about the lead up.

2-weeks is a laughably poor call. High impact?

Also **** David King.
