Mate, i agree that they should have done better on the pick split and what we gave up for Baker.

But that is over. Have no problem if go bitch elsewhere, not the draft thread where it's been discussed ad nauseum.
Perhaps some people have a life and don't get on Bigfooty all day long and only come in from time to time.

Perhaps those people want to talk footy when they get on, not when it suits you.

Here's a tip. When you see Baker's name, put your finger on the little roller thingy on your mouse and scroll it down for about 2 seconds. Fixed.

In lots of sports there are trades for 'conditional' picks, eg. Player plays x number of games they get a 2nd rounder instead of a 3rd. Really think it would help even up trades and protect both teams while also enabling players more freedom of choice on where they go.
Non Footy. The Philadelphia 76'ers once traded the same second pick in 5 separate conditional trades, based on ladder position, but ended up keeping the pick, because their final ladder position was in the band they didn't trade.

Here’s a tip; I don’t mind talking about Baker. What he brings to the club, where he’ll play etc.The main people flogging the “woe is us we are doomed “ are on BF full time.
Those people need to get a life

Not really, Shep was very good at reading the game and ball in flight, Sheps aerial ability was elite, also Shep was just an average kick.

Selwood more aggressive, better run and carry with good footskills and much faster.

Shep was more a link up player and hand balled more, where as Selwood more a release of ball player who gives the quick get away.

Selwood probably has more positional versatility.

Sheppard was in the leagues best for the role that he played and his unique ability to equally effectively play on both talls and smalls a real point of difference.
havn't seen much of Sellwood, the game I saw he was ok, probably has some upside and not being an 18yo probably goes in his favour, as far as KDEF players out there in FFL, WAFL, SANFL I have liked what Anthony Davis from Claremont, really good size, really good kick and good endurance and at 23 is physically ready for AFL. Thoughts?

Can we put a ban on discussing Baker in this thread? Relitigating something that has happened, without adding anything new that hasn't been said multiple times over the various trade/draft threads should see a card issued!

I think the biggest thing is there will be a decent amount of pressure on him to live up to what he, in part, forced us to pay to get him home & playing for us.

We will see if he can step up to the differing standards that people judge that to be.

No no no.

Given the acquisition of jobe. Completely halt all negotiations with Oscar Allen. Restart negotiation with Oscar at the end of 2025.

Who knows maybe archer or jobe can cement a spot at chf
We're lucky Nesbitt isn't in charge anymore.
He probably would've already been offered a 7 year extension already.

We would get more if we didn't match. Most probably a top 5 compo pick.
Remember how the Barrass (yes under contract) worked out. Most thought we got unders for that trade.
I don't think most thought we got unders for Barrass. Most thought we got a very good deal (including myself) for a soon to be 29yo with chronic back issues. Those that thought we got unders were probably overrating his value considerably.

But on Allen, Im fully with the club on offering no more than 5 years, especially given his age and injury history. A contract that brings him to the precipice of the WA drop off is the most we should offer. Given what appears to be a very promising list of Key forwards with Waterman in beast mode, Jilliams looking very good and Archer Reid and Shanahan with big wraps on them, it is the one area where we could afford to risk losing a star player for a big payday.

Have just started an Oscar free agency thread with poll options. It's worth a separate discussion given the import either way of the decision.

It's not like the Eagles shaft it's ex captains either.

Both Shuey and now Hurn back at the club on the payroll post career.

Another draft will be here before you know it!

----

One of my absolute favourites in the 2025 draft crop is Fred Rodriguez from WA. Slick and clean with his hands, able to gather difficult ball below his knees. Elite skills off either side of the body by hand or foot. Attacking instincts to burst forward into dangerous space. Strong running power on the outside.

He was excellent at the Champs as a bottom ager, one of WA's best for the tournament. Here we see most of his game on full show, although his left foot was a little less lazer sharp than usual.

Thanks noobermensch . Amazing talent and would have to be early favourite to be taken with our best pick if available.

Feels like a very similar situation to Sid Draper this year for the crows. Perfect type to suit your list and should naturally fall around where you're picking in the first round. Unless you take a leap up the table of course.

Yeah Im not suggesting he gets shafted. I think with all things considered that 5 years is very fair and as a club we owe it to ourselves to ensure we dont put ourselves in a bad contract position like we did with Gaff and Darling and NN. If Oscar wants longer and wants to explore his options then we are also in a good position to allow him to do that without feeling like we need to give him what he wants as we have other options.

Both feet. Turn of pace. Fast handballs. He looks a fantastic prospect.
Love the elite disposal off either foot of course, but my favourite thing he does is when he takes the footy he immediately turns and looks to dash forward into space, does it all the time and it breaks through structures and defensive lines consistently, and raises the tempo of his teammates as well, everyone around him starts to play faster.

The thought was we should get 14 and a future first as well.
I am not unhappy with what we ended up.

Duursma would be very nice for multiple reasons too.

Duursma/Sharp (our pick if we Finish bottom 3)

Rodriguez (Hawks death ride successful bottom 6)

Curtin/Swadling (Bundle our 2 x 2nd Ed picks to move up)
So if we miss on Warner, is a dream draft next year Rodriguez and then Curtin in the first round?

Understanding there's a lot of water to go under the bridge.
