Funding is needed to provide suitable facilities (changing rooms, training pitches), provide equipment (goals, balls, flags etc) and support (coaching, training, admin etc)
Giving money to the organisation doesn’t quite reduce league fees (apologies but I am not an active player and can only take a stab based on what I last payed) nor does it reduce the cost of mouth guards, shin pads, football boots, sometimes socks and shorts which is what you would pay out of your pocket
It’s well and truely needed but a lot more should come from FIFA
It is points scoring, I don’t pretend otherwise, but it’s also needed

Caitlin Foord. I watched a video of this girls rehab from a knee reco a few years ago now. She is up there with H.Kewell and A Kanchelskis as fave ever players. She works farken hard each way, has the touch as good as the big bomber Viduka, the creativity of Bresciano and a little bit of nasty niggle thrown in. Just shown she's as hard as a cats head, has an egg above her left eye but will make Asllani think twice I reckon. Absolute gun.

So we lost….but the positives of this team is off the charts…apologies this could be long…..
l for one are sad but sooo bloody proud of what unfolded this past month..
Sweden have a strong domestic league …and they have now gone 3rd at last. Three world cups.
England as we know huge league and trophies over there….
and Spain…
Its the first WC where the European countries have gone 1,2,3.
Then there is us……. And think of the ones that are out……that’s huge……



But for some reason there’s a lot of negative comments and oh we‘re celebrating 4th …let’s rip into the players and coaching staff.

So l say this….prior to the World Cup we were ranked 10th. And given little to dingbats chance of winning …anything…it was more like a token pat on the back your hosting …
We were bloody shaky against Ireland and some how fell over the line….the pressure on them was huge…but they got it done…yet the abuse and how bloody ordinary are we began….afl reporters giving there expert analysis….the coach is rubbish….
Only to go through the roof with the loss to Nigeria in the group of death. To them the competition was over.

Onwards to Melbourne we marched ..and fudge me what a magical night ….4 glorious goals which could have been 7 … yet questions about players and the coaching tactics remained.
Canada were Olympic gold medalists and number 7 in the world…with the wood on us…we had played beyond our wildest dreams. Yet the criticism remained.

but then it was the Dutch next…again ranked higher than us…..surely this team would now crash out in the round of 16..no shame in that…they had had their moment in the sun…
So onto Dutch ball it was….bookies had us at odds of over $3 to win to the raging favourite princess Mary’s.
The trolls were enjoying this as were the media…..this would be the end here…
but with our own bullseye through to Foord from our something about Mary pandemonium erupted around the country…..the media woke up and we were into the round of 8…

So the journey continued the Matildas had knocked out another powerhouse who’s federation spends more than our team’s entire roster….but online pointed out…nah not new..where been here before…and this team and coach is crap..

It was around somewhere at this point l called out one Mr R. slater. For his applauding of the team …when less than 2 weeks earlier he was tearing into them…might have used the word bandwagon…which he said he was on …for a long time..to which l battered back…well then support them not rubbish them….( funny he’s been quiet lately after that….and is touchy about top goal scorers)

Then it was a la revolutionary charge against le frogs …. Who at this stage we’re a multi million team and world stars ranked 5…
but fudge me the more l look at this game this is the one we should call our final….we throwEd the kitchen sink and then some at them….we spent all of our petrol tickets here to get across the line in the longest and most glorious pk shoot out of all time…and came out on top…. This is where we as a nation really began to believe…and the word on the street was …get on board and get on now….

with the time between games getting shorter and the rest crucial, questions about players and tactics remained…despite what this team had just achieved…even more magical when the best striker in the world had played a support role on the bench …..and 0 minutes played before her beautiful pk against the French….just let that sink in….how we won…prior to this game ….pure guts and determination.

next England..who not only had an extra days rest…were regaining Euro champs, hand picked from the strongest league in the world, and funded so much that they happily donated the 500,000 plus gym equipment that they had shipped over…. We were flat and outmuscled in the first half…yet oddly held our own despite an ordinary performance…the goal came from a switch off in defence….and a knackered side….
but fudge me that second half for a glorious 10 minutes, Kerr put the team on her back and went follow me…that goal. Wow…
then &### gone down again and cue the trolls who in my opinion have been absolutely disgraceful….theres a special place in hell for them…
but holly molley we almost went bang bang….but not to be,,,,and lm still grinding teeth with some of the non calls.
this was the 5th best and possibly absolute favourites to take out the comp…and despite being buggered we went with them toe to toe for that glorious 10 minutes….

Then to tonight’s game….Sweden ranked 4th constantly playing wcs top 4…..this now being their 3rd 3rd place finish…
to make a comparison it’s like managatang 3rds playing Collingwood…..except our players were physically spent and had one less day….history against us..
Again we had a brilliant start…..then the endurance fell away…..
but gee lm happy that they didnt take a backwards step…mini getting in the face of the swedish player…if she retires we should inquire about getting her in as a line coach….she may make errors…but she blitzed the comp in hardball gets…something like her 56 the next 18…..in the world! Love mini…
The reality was physically we were done after France

So 4th…..cast your mind back ..look at our ranking prior to the start of the WC and ask what result would you expect. It #$$++n’t have been this ….not in a million years…even for the most ardent supporters. Yet there are sections of the media and country who instead of embracing the moment will sink the boots in.
I implore you to go back …look at all the posts and clips online….and not walk away with a sense of admiration for this team.

We as a country have smashed as a host the viewing, and sales for FIFA
and we had over 17 million people turn on the tv or device to watch the match vs eng…..glad the funding might actually be coming this way…. Fund it and they will come……

But I’ll dam well friggen celebrate this finish like there’s no tomorrow…then sit back wipe a tear from my face and fiercely defend this whole team because of what was achieved….fudge l can’t afford all tops but l would if l could…
we came 4th …we came from the clouds….and it was a wild beautiful ride…..
reminds me a bit about Gus hiddink and South Korea….erriely similar….
