We all know how this ends. The Crows ask for a please explain, the AFL come out and back the umpire saying the decision was right, the Crows back away with their tail between their legs because the mere thought of questioning an AFL umpire is a death sentence for anyone involved. This protective shroud the Third Reich has built around it's umpiring fraternity has gone beyond a joke. Not just tonight's howler but across every game of every round I sit here confused, baffled, bewildered.I'm at the stage now where I no longer care what the free kick is for....I just cheer if the umps arm points my way ,or boo if it doesn't.To you AFL I say thank you for this.Your endless rule changes, puzzling umpiring decisions, sensitivity to criticism, have now lead to one final emotion within.... detachment.Congratulations to you.Keep counting those $$$👍.
Haven't they already said it was wrong though

lol there is conclusive and then there is arc cconclusive. two different things. The umpire has to determine there is enough evidence to over rule the umpire. Based on the current standard of review umpiring, a goal is not going to be the certain conclusion we know it is.
What? The goal umpire thought it hit the padding didn't he and the side on vision showed the ball cleared the padding. Sure, the arc would have been inconclusive as there would have been the noise caused by the Sydney player hitting the padding.

And it remains at the discrepancy of the the TV umpire whether he thinks there is enough evidence. We are all certain of a goal. I have no doubt it was. I just think a TV umpire will take the excuse of the soft call to not over turn it.

No it wouldn't, the goal umpire have told the field umpire that he think it hit the padding and the side on vision would have showed it didn't so easily overturned. It certainly didn't nick the goal post, if he think it did then he is more incompetent than we all thought.

Is this gross incompetence?

Or is there something more corrupt going on?

Gross incompetence from a league that runs on assumptions and half thought out processes. Anyone with half a brain would have said if you you have a review system that reviews all goals, the same should be said for the howler that calls a behind when its a clear goal. Instead, they Pr'd themselves into putting in an easy half cocked goal review system only. There is also an assumption goals are not checked even though they should be. There have been conclusive footage of goals being allowed that have clearly hit the post and been touched.

We need to be asking the AFL to scratch our backs behind the scenes to compensate for this

Maybe push through a heavily favourable trade or give us a dream fixture next year.

The AFL won't change the result or admit fault but they might try to shut us up with a secret, corrupt sweetener.

And we all know the AFL definitely do this sort of thing
I'll take free agent darcy parish thanks

Since we weren’t playing against a Victorian team it might actually get some proper attention in the AFL media.

This will burn and be remembered forever.

Like losing a prelim from 7 goals up, Massie on Franklin, or the umpiring in the 2012 prelim.

You don’t want to be a second rate club in a league that doesn’t want you to succeed.

That’s what we are. That’s why we’re perennial losers.

Ive seen enough poorly umpired reviewed decisions this year to strongly argue for incompetent. Its the AFL. it pretty much is amateur hour at every turn. The media need to go hard at them for this. Its inexcusable that a clear goal could be called a behind at the whim of an umpire when goal reviews were created as a thing. How could this be even an oversight in making the rules and processes. Its common-sense. I would have added it. Im sure everyone on here would have added it. This is purely the AFL's intent to be as amateur as possible coming back to bite them. I have no idea why they overloooked it and its got to be pretty embarrassing for them right now.

Unfortunately this is the truth.

The AFL should just give us the ******* points, it isn't what's proper, but it is what's fair.
That ****s over GWS and other teams also in the finals race, it's not their fault an umpire in a different game ****ed over a team also in the race for finals.

The AFL can't do anything about the game just gone unless instead of the bye round have 7,8,9&10 play off to get the last two positions

Sydney winning when they shouldn't have actually ****s of GWS too.

The AFL always has been and always will be an amateur sporting organisation who makes the rules on the go. The sooner supporters realise that the better. It’s little wonder this sport isn’t played anywhere else in the world.

It’s time to stop caring / following

Yep.

I’m just repeating my previous post, but it is a corrupt league that has absolutely no desire to see us win.

And we are a club that constantly kicks own goals.

= infinite premiership drought

Is that not technically a free kick because he's using the post to get higher
But the rules state, a player may not deliberately INTERFERE with a goal post. The lack of ARC evidence is due to the Sydney player interfering with the ability for ARC (and therefore the umpires) to determine whether the ball contacted the post or not. Had he not deliberately (and unnecessarily) touched the post with his hand, ARC would have provided clear evidence.

That was because fremantle were in front when the siren went and the umpire ignored that the siren had gone for like 30 seconds and then called a free kick in front of goal to st kilda.

We would have been in front with 1 minute left. But its pure guess work after that as to what would happen.

No chance, lets move on and stop embarrassing the club with this.
Disagree strongly!!!!!

Embarrassing would be to limp away with a whimper.

This is a club building moment. We should fight with everything. This is worth taking a stand for.
