This doesn't make sense in the slightest.

The Court doesn't determine the issues without jurisdiction.

Blindly asserting "obvious jurisdiction" does not found jurisdiction.

Courts do not have jurisdiction by merely describing something as a "commercial dispute".

You need a cause of action founded in common law, equity or conferred by statute.

I have been thinking about our high amount of games at regional venues. I am thinking part of the reason why we get so many more of these is due to the fact that we are a well supported club, and the AFL knows we have a lot of supporters who live interstate, and also a lot that will travel to interstate games.

The vic clubs are unlikely to sell home games involving 2 Vic clubs, it would more likely be a home game against an interstate club that they would be happy to sell. So that narrows it down to one of the 8 interstate clubs. They know that we will likely draw a good crowd in both Ballarat or either of the NT venues, especially compared to one of the WA teams or the expansion sides in the eastern states. So they are happy to give us more of these games as they want to see these games sell out.

Either way though it is not fair that we are expected to be involved with these games more than others just because we have are more likley to pull a bigger crowd. It needs to be shared amongst all of the teams.
I think, at least in the case of the Darwin and Alice Springs games, West Coast and Freo would be our equal in terms of support (or at least pretty close). Ballarat you are probably right, but surely one of the less supported Victorian sides (looking at the Roos right now) could play there? We have done the heavy lifting here, time for the rest of the league to carry the load moving forward

This is becoming really frustrating... He just being too nice about being totally costed a chance at finals.

Reckon at least 80% of other coaches would be outwardly furious and have called out the absolute BS.

So the playing group has moved on after venting earlier in the week.

Personally, think the club should have at least had a go at the legal avenue. AFL would then have to think about it but instead we rollover and ask for our tummy to be rubbed.

I think the obvious solution next year to make up for this is to have the crows play all 23 home and 'away' games at Adelaide oval. It would solve the travelling circus problem..ie no more ballarat and no more darwin etc AND no need for the afl to worry about a travel allowance for us. Throw in half a dozen friday night games and it will soothe the raw nerve the AFL hit saturday night.

The club is not aligned on this at all. Olsen is ropeable, Silvers a little salty & Nicks like it didnt even happen.

There you go again Sanders, using anecdotal evidence about Greg Louganis‘ career.

Do you have any peer-reviewed Olympic studies that show Louganis displayed self control, or is that just your own inherent bias?

Stop pretending to be a practicing diving coach.

Has anyone actually heard the AFL apologise to the club and its supporters. If they did apologise I didn't hear it. I can tell you that if this happened to Collingwood Gillon's,response would have been the complete opposite to the non response we got of suck it up and bad luck.

Gil did in the presser on Sunday, but it wasn't a genuine apology, the whole press conference was "nothing to see here", we dont need to fix anything. Cant wait until he well and truly pisses off.

He threw the umpire under the bus, took no responsibility in not having an adequate system in place to prevent it from happening, gave no assurance that they would do everything in their power to fix the problem and made no genuine apology to the club and its supporters. Surely a decent and fair CEO would have offered us 4 points along with the swans. He also made no mention of players hitting the post with their hand to con the umpire. Then they give no penalty to a swan's player that fractured one of our players cheekbone. FMD.

The club's response has been weak along with a coach that blames goal kicking for the loss. How about Olsen coming out and saying we must be given 4 points as well. Where is the argument that we don't deserve it. They state that there is no guarantee that we would have won but there is no guarantee that the swans would have won as well. Where is the fairness? That was a clear goal so they can't act as though an incorrect call stands. The real reason they won't do the right thing is that they want Sydney in the finals and they don't want to upset Victorian clubs. Is this an Australian football league as it's not run that way.

In regards to both clubs receiving 4 points, im confident they went to the AFL with this approach on the night itself but they wouldn't change the result.

What worries me is the last few days the club seems to be talking more and more about having to move on. It makes me think that we have been told we will not be receiving any form of compensation.

I'm confident that they didn't. It would have been the height of stupidity to ask for four 4 points each. That would have disadvantaged every other competitor for the finals. It would only have made sense to ask for a (part)-replay, but that was always unlikely to be accepted.

It actually makes more sense for them to stop whinging if they had been successful in attaining some form of compensation, especially if it's in non-financial form like the fixture. You can't exactly advertise that kind of compensation.

It seems more likely we would continue whinging if we had been told we wouldn't get anything. At least for a bit longer anyway.

If we have moved on after 2 days and accepted nothing then we are the weakest pieces of shit on the planet.

Nicks is being way too overly professional, nice and mature.
Nicks just on 7 news, liked his comments. He gave the boys 60 seconds to rant and get out their anger and frustration over the incident then called for them to move on and not dwell on something that won't be changed. I don't mind that attitude. Leave the rest to the higher ups.

Agree. Hairy chested posturing is not in the coach's job description (and he's on a tighter leash with the AFL). That's the Chair and CEO' s job.

I reckon we have started downplaying in the media and “moving on” for two reasons

As has been noted several times - the club is concerned for mental welfare of the goal umpire and the social media pile on that plays out when things like this happen

Secondly, the louder we shout options out the more likely other clubs are going to stick their nose in, which could potentially negate what we could negotiate.
