Just did the whole on line voting thang. Easy peasy. Well done North.

Club is 2000 members ahead of last year which was effectively a record year.

Admin clearly on wrong track. Time for a shake up.

Yep, ditto with this. Not everyone can get down to vote so why not allow us to do it online. And most supporters these days would have access to a computer or hand held device of some sort.

Has anyone else voted on line and been concerned that current board members are clearly identified by asterix? I thought after the last elections, where there was a clear endorsement of sitting board members in material from the club, that this new election process would be 'untainted' so to speak. IMO everybody should be listed in formal election correspondence without any reference to whether or not they are on the board currently, that information should be divulged in election material from candidates, I think it will influence some voters to vote for the incumbents.

Thoughts?

Stating they are on the board is essential. It is a simple statement of fact and should be a significant factor (in the positive or the negative) for anyone voting.

The only thing worse that disrupting a stable board just for the sake of change, is disrupting a stable board because you don't know who you are voting for!

I would have an issue if they did not identify current board members. It may disadvantage a new prospective member when the board is performing, but it will give them an advantage when the board is under-performing - which is how is should be.

Whoever you decide(d) to vote for, keep in mind that your own personal vote will not influence the outcome at all.

This is probably true for compulsory vote elections but less so with non compulsory ones. Around 3,000 NMFC members vote, but this means over 17,000 don't. A new prospective candidate that can tap into 1,000 of the 17,000+ will gain a seat on the Board. The difficulty is in getting to that 1,000.

Speak for yourself GR. Last time my device was hand held it was most enjoyable but I didn't realise it was voting in an election.

Fair enough, I must also say that the online voting and the new process for elections are excellent steps forward for the club and I hope it will be reflected in a much higher participation rate in terms of the vote :thumbsu: I really hope for the sake of transparency that they publish the results of votes cast that would be

Good to see BF doing the job of journalists again. This little beauty appeared on the back page of Saturday's HS sports section:

I was having dinner last night at Taxi and just happened to see Caroline having dinner with Peter de Rauch and another former director of the club who was a power broker.

I stuck by the current admin.

The new lass has an impressive CV, but I don't know if she could recite the 1950 grand final back line off the top of her head.

If she persists, she will make the cut one day.

^ I'd be surprised if Laycock could recite the 2011 back line off the top of her head!

Would you really? Why, because she's a woman? Or because she's in marketing? Or because she's new? Genuinely interested to know what you'd assume she couldn't identify the current backline.
