Absolutely. If we thought he was too damaged we could end up with another Colin Sylvia.

He's young enough to turn things around, be different if he was late 20s or something, wouldn't even bother trying.

Just feel people are a bit quick to write him off just because of his issues with the Dogs - there could be lots of info both ways we don't know about (or not)

By no means am I writing Stringer off. As you said if he's firing he'd be an asset. Plus, under Scott, we don't seem to have got too many of these wrong. If we want him and he wants us, let's go.

Meh to much of a risk and then we are stuck with him and his contract if things don't go right.

There is no guarantee he will sort himself out on and off the field. I mean for the Bulldogs to put him up for trade,who not long ago was in their best few players wow.

Just my gut feel on things and either way i hope for his sake he gets back on track.

Things stink down at the kennel I am hearing from the Bulldogs supporters I know. From Premiers to not very good also rans in one season was always going to see someone cop it in the neck.

My take is that Stringer is the sacrificial lamb from Bevo to placate the masses.

That is not to say I endorse Stringer as a pickup for us; as I am not sure he gives us anything that Wood et al do not already provide. On the other hand, an obviously talented player (inconsistent yes), has had a few personal issues and gets picked up by another club. You can bet your bottom dollar he play his guts out, and be a very grateful young man into the future.

If the club decide he is worth a punt, just like they did with Williams, then I am all for it. If they decide otherwise, happy with that too.

I got burned by criticising the recruitment of Waite, not doing that again.

It's one thing backing in your own contracted player with personal issues. It's another matter bringing in a player, at cost, with alleged behavioural issues.

I'm not totally against him, but we'd need to sure that he's committed. He's been absolutely lousy the past two seasons.

Not heard behaviour problems rumour.......hearing him speak the other day, he isn't the sharpest tool. But is capable young footballer who has split with his partner/kids, surely must take a toll.

I just don't see any available a-graders out there and was looking at top picks who might have struggled. Can you think of any?

List managers (ours) are looking at next year's crop of free agents.....these will cost even more trade wise. Thus the reason news on Mountford/Mullett, some others flying about.

BTW I disagree with you about Goldy but I do see why you say what you say about him, so I'm not that bothered that i want to argue about it. I just think he has other attributes that can balance those flaws out.

Re Stringer, if our own investigation into why he's being offered up for trade reveals there's nothing too dramatic and unfixable, and if he hence states his desire to move to our club and we feel capable of satisfying the Dogs with our second and a player (who we too feel is expendable), I'm all for going after him also.

The vision of watching him burn off our midfield is etched into my brain forever, and he's young enough to play a big role in our revival.

Yeah I know it is apparently drug related and so on.

Sure it is a risk but I think this could be a reality check for him.

Our 90s team wasn't full of choir boys (Ie; Carey, Pike to start with), I am not prepared to write off a young (very talented) guy just because he doesn't attend mass every Sunday and enjoys a good time.

Nothing a well written contract couldn't fix....get out clauses added.

Ok must admit i don't know anything about the youngsters. I was told there's five we'd be happy with, I assumed that this was Raynor, Dow, Stephenson and LDU. So the fifth was an unknown. We believe we'll get a great player with pick 4. Your mail makes sense and you could be on the money.
