i'm a rockets fan, but i'd say i know more about every team than 70% of people who call themselves fans of that team so i guess i'm more of a fan of the game and have just associated with Houston. this certainly doesn't mean my fellow posters on this board, just your everyday fan who has a base of knowledge.

i also follow a lot of the upcoming high school stars and i'm really interested in recruiting procedures and politics when they get to college.

as time progresses certainly there are more and more new fans to the game/teams. for example, young teens would no doubt be rockin heat lebron jerseys and flat brimmed caps. give them time to develop their knowledge.

Almost every single NBA "fan" in Australia is ******ed. I only know 1 person who doesn't go for a bandwagon team... and that's the Nuggets which is still one of the best teams in the NBA.

Who cares anymore? As long as the individual at question is knowledgeable about the sport in general and can give you decent discussion at work.

Even if he is a new NBA fan and just likes Dwight, the original point still stands. More people who like basketball = more people to talk about basketball with.
