I dont subscribe to the thought that he was misused, just more that he clearly feels that he had far more of a role, or confidence instilled in him in Atlanta.
You must admit he looks a different proposition and its rubbing off on both ends of the floor.
Could just be a change of environment, coaching style or any of a million other factors
I'm sure a change of scenery has probably freshened him up.
His current starting role just wasn't feasible with us, mostly due to our unorthodox roster. We had a spacing-challenged front court last year, and a shooting guard playing defacto point guard. We definitely needed a defnece-first guy in the starting line-up, but Herb was a more willing shooter, despite coming into the league with similar deficiencies.
Dyson's role in Atlanta is pretty much the same as it was for us last season, only he has the opportunity to start and play more minutes because they don't have any other plus defenders, whereas we did. The path we identified for him - ie not a point guard, but a point of attack defender who plays off ball on the other side of the court - is still very much his role this season. Only difference is greater opportunity for playing time, and a seemingly reduced reluctance to shoot.
