Koch and Co can take all the time they want but if we are to give up our current set up and our zones, then it's only in the best interests of the other 8 SANFL clubs and the cows. How about we all take a chill pill and give Koch and Co time to work out the best possible outcome that they can get.
Lets just wait and see what happens. Best possible may not be best for everyone but I have no doubt it will be the best we can do in the current climate.
Have people seen this http://www.portmagpies.com.au/juniorclubs.php or this http://www.portmagpies.com.au/country_academy.php ?
Take every player that currently plays for the Maggies from the league side right down through to our junior affiliates and attach a set of parents, a sibling and two friends. That is 5 people for every player plus that player, that are associated with our club. This does not include grandparents, uncles, aunties, cousins, more friends, communities that feel linked through these players etc, etc and what you have, are members, supporters, VOLUNTEERS, coterie members etc. that are the bedrock of Port Adelaide both Magpies and Power not just for now, but for way into the future.
With one stroke of the pen, all of these people will be extinguished! Our club will be condemned to death because without these people, CLUBS do not function nor survive! Let the f*****g cows sort out their own shit. Their way of dealing with "reserves" is their prerogative and has nothing to do with us.
The cows have what I've mentioned above x 8 and some around these parts are salivating at the mouth because they can't wait to hand over our lungs, our heart to the f*****g cows but thats OK, "we're in the AFL"!.
What's best in the current climate is to tell the SANFL that we will not compromise the current set up of our Magpies and if and when, there are noses put out of joint within our club due to the fact that a dozen or so of our current Magpies will not be required, then that is something we will deal with internally as a club. If that is not acceptable to the old boys of the SANFL, bad luck: just try and boot us out of the SANFL competition and see what happens.
As for not having Power reserves if we decide to maintain the status quo, then some around here aught to stop falling for the arse hole Rucci line that somehow it's going to make an enormous difference. That is the biggest crock of shit going 'round, in fact, by having all our blokes at our club for what amounts to 85 to 90% of the time and then making them go to other environments, some argue and strongly as it happens, that it is good for them to get out of their "comfort zone" of Alberton and have to negotiate through sets of circumstances and scenarios that exercise their minds. It builds character and discipline and sorts the wheat from the chaff by making them perform under extreme situations.
