A 10 year player for the Magpies who came from the clubs metro zone and played through all 4 grades....Hes the poster boy for what a large percentage of us want to keep.
Maybe Summerton can transfer to Sturt?Hopefully Summertons gear is sitting out in the parking lot tomorrow next to the space reserved for the Mayor.
at least you haven't lost your memory yet.
I used to listen to 5DN a lot and it was a big shock when they moved to FM. I knew it was 1990 but couldn't remember exactly when. I listened to KG's sport show from when it started when I was 13 so I remember 5DN's demise well. I also remember coming home from Sydney one Christmas and being equally shocked a few years later and hearing 5DN left FM and took over and scrapped 5AD. When Bazz and Pilko were on 5AD in the late 1970's and early 1980's and they used to rate 44% of the breakfast radio audience they were one of the most profitable radio stations in the country. 2 great rating old radio stations had become 1 really shitty impoverished one in the space of less than 5 years.
Almost Macca19 , almost but you stopped just short of the finish line.A 10 year player for the Magpies who came from the clubs metro zone and played through all 4 grades....Hes the poster boy for what a large percentage of us want to keep.
I think people need to stop talking in terms of Magpies and Power. Magpies and Power are not clubs but teams.... Most Magpie fans are not Power fans ...
That is not correct...... If we had our way there would have been no Port Adelaide in the SANFL when we joined the AFL back in 97. .....
If Koch and Thomas do bend our club over a table and let the SANFL old boys f**k us by taking away our Magpies and they are OUR Magpies and take away our zones and our cultural background, then Koch and the others are in for war.

No, it would give them a chance to play in front of Power scouts every week instead of just the one week prior to the pre season draft.I thought the Port Adelaide's proposal for a reserves team would largely eradicate players like Summerton?

My mistake, I should have used would have rather than just would. It was meant to be a general statement and not about one player in particular. As teenagers and early-20 year olds yes, but I don't think 10 year SANFL players will have a place in the Magpies from next year onwards.
My mistake. A clerical error lolI'm showing my age here, but it would have been on 5AD that you heard it as he didn't move over to 5AA until 1991.
Thanks for refreshing my memory. I can remember feeling pretty good, we were headed for the Afl and then it all turned sour and the SANFL announced it was going to field a franchise team. Funny how every one was so against us, then not long after, we have a proposal from Norwood, the cartel lol. after what seemed like an eternity the whole family sat down and we were drawing up all the designs for the the new Port jumper and sending them in, ah it was like yesterday in my mind and how proud we felt when Port's proposal was excepted into the AFL.That was the 1990 AFL entry attempt. In 1990 the AFL still had reserves and U/19 and that's why we considered moving lock stock and barrel. It was never our intention in 1990 to be a West Coast ie single team club so keeping the reserves and juniors in the SANFL was a consideration. But as I said before, it was about 3 and half weeks between Bruce Weber started talking to Alan Schwab at the AFL - whilst CEO Ross Oakley was on holidays (5th July) and Mike Sheahan breaking the story (Sunday 27 or 28 or 29 July). Then all hell broke lose and within a week or two the court injunction by Justice Olsson was somehow able to stop us talking to the AFL for a month. So we didn't have time to seriously think about if we were going to have both an AFL and SANFL team.
Oh that Ethelton move, what a shocker. That is not correct.
If we had had our way there would have been PAFC Magpies teams in the SNAFL and a PAFC Power team in the AFL. Instead the SNAFL forced the creation of the PAMFC, based at Ethelton, on the PAFC. That is what created this whole "true Port Adelaide" debate and is when I pretty much lost interest in the SNAFL competition.
My mistake. A clerical error lol
Despite speculation to the contrary, the Port Adelaide Football Club Board of Directors will not be voting today on an AFL reserves model as proposed by the SANFL.
The club appreciates the proposal from the SANFL but there are a number of complex issues still to be resolved.
Not the time frame KT advised in his last message.
I wonder whats changed.....?
Not at all. Considering a proposal is different to voting on a proposal.
