Show me the money. Does anyone here know what the latest SANFL conditions are? Have faith the board is acting in the best interests of PAFC.
KT said the PAFC is meeting today to consider the revised offer &. the terms of reference (ref KT 23 Aug) are

We are still seeking to create a future Port Adelaide structure that achieves the following:

- Provides our Club with the best possible chance to win AFL premierships.
- Ensures that the Magpies are retained, fiercely competitive and intent on winning premierships.
- Provides a pathway for junior footballers to develop their skills and love of the game at Port Adelaide, enabling them to ultimately realise their dream of playing league football for the Magpies, or if they are good enough, get drafted into the AFL competition.

Next Steps
The SANFL and its Clubs need to decide whether they wish to invite us to re-join their competition under a new set of Port Adelaide-specific conditions which would enable us to achieve the above criteria.

If not, we will prepare for season 2014 to be status quo as previously stated, and use next year to develop an alternative plan for season 2015 and beyond.

I'm sick of the maggies talk, want it over and right now am glad to see em go just to hear the end of it.

But on the other hand, what separates us from the crows and makes us better. that we are a club. Are we still the same without our juniors?

I used to listen to 5DN a lot and it was a big shock when they moved to FM. I knew it was 1990 but couldn't remember exactly when. I listened to KG's sport show from when it started when I was 13 so I remember 5DN's demise well. I also remember coming home from Sydney one Christmas and being equally shocked a few years later and hearing 5DN left FM and took over and scrapped 5AD. When Bazz and Pilko were on 5AD in the late 1970's and early 1980's and they used to rate 44% of the breakfast radio audience they were one of the most profitable radio stations in the country. 2 great rating old radio stations had become 1 really shitty impoverished one in the space of less than 5 years.

I loved DN's slogan they used to have on a billboard outside the railway station

A 10 year player for the Magpies who came from the clubs metro zone and played through all 4 grades....Hes the poster boy for what a large percentage of us want to keep.
Almost Macca19 , almost but you stopped just short of the finish line.
I do not know much about him and certainly will not rubbish him for his thoughts but I do not quite 100% agree with them.

What we want to preserve is kids going through the grades and end up playing for the first team.
The first team is not in the SANFL but in the AFL.
We do have poster boys that have made it all the way, Brett and Brad Ebert, Warren Tredrea, Darren Mead, Darryl Wakelin, Gavin Wanganeen and more.
Pity Summerton didn't make it all the way but not all will, however he is still one of the family and there is only one family.

This was always going to be messy and it is now up to KT, Koch and Co to sort out but it will not be easy.

Wrt people having a go at KT for not being Port from the start, how is he different to Fos and Jack?

... Most Magpie fans are not Power fans ...
I think people need to stop talking in terms of Magpies and Power. Magpies and Power are not clubs but teams.
The PAFC had thousands of members before joining the AFL and most of those are still around.

..... If we had our way there would have been no Port Adelaide in the SANFL when we joined the AFL back in 97. .....
That is not correct.

If we had had our way there would have been PAFC Magpies teams in the SNAFL and a PAFC Power team in the AFL. Instead the SNAFL forced the creation of the PAMFC, based at Ethelton, on the PAFC. That is what created this whole "true Port Adelaide" debate and is when I pretty much lost interest in the SNAFL competition.

If Koch and Thomas do bend our club over a table and let the SANFL old boys f**k us by taking away our Magpies and they are OUR Magpies and take away our zones and our cultural background, then Koch and the others are in for war.

What do you propose they do? The Magpies are in this mess because they nearly folded 3 years ago and PAFC had to save them, this was the only way they could do it. If the Maggies die, make no mistake the blood will be on the hands of the SANFL not the PAFC. The PAFC have done everything they can to retain the Maggies and all their heritage.

I think your anger is misdirected, you should have the SANFL firmly in your sights, not the PAFC.

I thought the Port Adelaide's proposal for a reserves team would largely eradicate players like Summerton?

No, it would give them a chance to play in front of Power scouts every week instead of just the one week prior to the pre season draft.

As teenagers and early-20 year olds yes, but I don't think 10 year SANFL players will have a place in the Magpies from next year onwards.

My mistake, I should have used would have rather than just would. It was meant to be a general statement and not about one player in particular.

That was the 1990 AFL entry attempt. In 1990 the AFL still had reserves and U/19 and that's why we considered moving lock stock and barrel. It was never our intention in 1990 to be a West Coast ie single team club so keeping the reserves and juniors in the SANFL was a consideration. But as I said before, it was about 3 and half weeks between Bruce Weber started talking to Alan Schwab at the AFL - whilst CEO Ross Oakley was on holidays (5th July) and Mike Sheahan breaking the story (Sunday 27 or 28 or 29 July). Then all hell broke lose and within a week or two the court injunction by Justice Olsson was somehow able to stop us talking to the AFL for a month. So we didn't have time to seriously think about if we were going to have both an AFL and SANFL team.
Thanks for refreshing my memory. I can remember feeling pretty good, we were headed for the Afl and then it all turned sour and the SANFL announced it was going to field a franchise team. Funny how every one was so against us, then not long after, we have a proposal from Norwood, the cartel lol. after what seemed like an eternity the whole family sat down and we were drawing up all the designs for the the new Port jumper and sending them in, ah it was like yesterday in my mind and how proud we felt when Port's proposal was excepted into the AFL.:)

Oh that Ethelton move, what a shocker.

Not the time frame KT advised in his last message.

I wonder whats changed.....?

Not at all. Considering a proposal is different to voting on a proposal.

I reckon the club is doing a fantastic job navigating through this and not simply rolling over to the SANFL demands. This is what sets us apart and drives us to be in a better position to win flags.

Wednesday's statement did say he'd have the "final word" on the matter by the end of the week, but today's release doesn't sound like that.
