To be honest, with no disrespect to Freo or Adelaide, but I couldn't of imagined a better prelim. When you think who we could of got like the Swans or the Cats.

I see the Afl is shafting the Hawks with Sydney playing the Prelim on Friday night because of a rugby clash and we have to play on a Saturday night.

The last two times a lower placed team had an extra days break on the team finishing first? Sydney. Both times.

AFL sign an exclusive agreement to play Sydney finals at Homebush, yet have to take the days the NRL don't want. Good work AFL.

Pav looks done to me. Was struggling to move at the end of that game (although he did come back on and kick a belter)
Crows have something thats worrying to the hawks and thats two big forwards but we'll get the job done either way.
Pffft ! Walker and Tippet ? at the "G" ? the way our back 6 is performing we will give them a serious bath.
They also have to get it down there first.

That won't stop them or Adelaide going hard at the man.

Watch last night's game and how many Geelong players had corkies in general play. I have no doubt Freo targeted players with their knees....and it worked.
Could we do the reverse? They will be very sore, no doubt.

We could but we don't want to risk suspension.

Whoever faces us in the prelim will have nothing to lose, much like we did in 08. Which means the play book gets thrown out the window and unpredictability ensues. Mind you, if we are switched on at the first bounce it shouldn't matter.

I don't mind who we play as long as we come out fit, firing and focused we should prevail. I really feel the way things went this weekend with the Crows and Cats losing that the football Gods have smiled on us as playing Freo or Adelaide in a prelim has greatly improved our chances of getting through to the GF, whereas if we had to play Sydney or Geelong it would be a lot tougher. I like the idea of playing Freo slightly more as for them it would be the 3rd week on the road against quality opponents when they get to the prelim and I can imagine them being out of ammo.

Normally I would say I don't care, but I want to see Adelaide out in straight sets, so I'll go for Freo. Either way, I hope they belt the hell out of each other next week. ;)

I can not agree more, would certainly shut up all the ridiculous Crows supporters I have to deal with. Also prove they were not worthy of a top 4 finish this year.

How have the Adelaide media performed this week? Better than laxettes. They just blindly expect victory, irrespective of anyone else in the competition. Childish is the very best way to describe the Adelaide media.

As I posted in another thread, there was one radio station (possibly all of them) crossing to Crows training every half hour for updates, where we were told by a very excited announcer that the "Crows were looking incredible!!"

They were forgetting that Sydney hadn't turned up to play yet. And as for that infantile stunt of a chorus of idiots singing the Crows club song at the airport in front of the Swans, that's as immature and embarrassing as it gets.

It really is hard being a Hawks supporter in Adelaide, and I don't want the Crows anywhere near a Grand Final. Come on Freo, you ousted Geelong, now do the right thing against the Crows.

I'm more focused on our Grand Final.

Might not even turn up it'll be that easy. Save some cash for the big dance.

There's definitely an element of confidence in my mind, and I suspect a lot of Hawk's supporters; Hawthorn are unbelievably close this year. Any shortfall will feel like our own doing to me. *TOUCH WOOD*

It will be. A couple of injuries or MRP decisions aside, our own form and other circumstances have given us as good as shot at the flag as is reasonably possible.

Have you been told to f*** off back to Victoria yet? That was one of my fondest memories growing up in Adelaide supporting the Hawks at games.

I know exactly where your coming from. 24/7 Crows central in the media when they are in the finals. To this day, living through the back to back premierships was a bloody nightmare I'll never forget. Parochialism is fine in moderation, but Adelaide always has to take it to the extreme to the point where it becomes plain embarrassing.

Having lived out of the state for quite a while now, my hate for the Crows has subsided dramatically which surprised me a fair bit. It's amazing how as an opposition supporter, all it takes is constant bombardment in the media to drive your hatred for a side despite the losses you've witnessed on the field at the hands of that said team. I still remember the heartache of thinking we had the '93 elimination final at the MCG in the bag (we had beaten them twice that year including my first ever game at FP) only for the Crows to cause an upset. Took a while but we got them back in '07 in marvellous fashion (thanks Buddy). ;)

At least up here your largely sheltered from oversaturation in the media (Although don't remind me of the Brisbane three peat, horrible time). At least when the Lions are down their "supporters" turn into tumbleweeds. What Lions?? AFL??

Still an even field with Hawthorn equipped better than most. So even that little things can accumulate and build into a big advantage.
Winning friday was huge, even though we spent petrol tickets in r22 and 23 to achieve top spot - which gave collingwood a 'lucky' MCG final and an extra 2 days over their next opponent, thanks to the subiaco debacle.
A teams last game can have a huge bearing on the petrol available for the next week - which is why the 2 weeks off is good
Prelim final Obviously a harsh game between adelaide and freo works well for us. Its perfectly possible, but bothe teams had a tough one this week

Grand final (should we qualify) Collingwood will have an extra 2 days on WCE/North due to the subiaco debacle. This might give them an easy ish win and fresher to take on sydney at ANZ where, it its collingwood, they will be very confident. Again it helps us if this prelim is bruising. Not sure collingwood are travelling that well but the press will get into them bigtime before then. Eddies and Bucks ego will take a huge battering if they straight sets. In this light we can hope for no collingwood supensions althought they were dogs against us. Maxwell on ellis ws pathetic. Maxwell will get 'sympathy ove the puopolo incident which sucks. At this point pupolo is a far superior player to haxwell

The sat night prelim is a blow for us but lets hope its countered by a bruisung prelim on the other side
Forgot to add that a win by Box Hill will give a chance for players to have a run next week
