I love this team and I think it's got premiership written all over it.

Round 6 Presser: Gold City Royals 16.12.108 defeated West Coast Wonders 16.11.107 @ The Golden Throne

Q: Thrilling win against the Wonders yesterday KP, you guys were trailing at three-quarter-time by 15 points. What do you believe was the secret to the comeback that got you over the line?

KP: I think when it comes down to close games you have to put it down to the intangibles. During the week, I shared with the team a very inspirational story about how the local social workers helped Grand Uncle Horace recover from 52 concussions and his cognitive difficulties to find a place where he can have a modicum of societal functionality. It just goes to show that you can come back against any sort of adversity so 15-point 3QT deficit is nothing. Heck, giving up a 25 point headstart in the first 5 minutes of the game is nothing.

Q: The Filth Wizard had a rare inaccurate day in front of goals so you really needed others in the forward line to step up. How important is it to develop multiple avenues to goal as the season goes?

KP: Yep, I think The acurate one was just about best on ground for us based on his efforts in the first quarter alone. He kicked 4 goals in that first quarter after the Wonders got out to a really quick start. The game could've gotten away there but he really was the accurate one and got us back into it whenever he had a look in. 5 goal effort from the forward pocket is something else in the first half. And then in the last quarter when the game was on the line and we needed someone to step up the other forward pocket NTRabbit slotted our final two goals of the game to put us in the lead. I don't mean to brag but I've been calling for his inclusion into the team since the start of the season so I am a true genius.

Q: Is your defence a concern given the #stackedsix has now conceded over 100 points in two consecutive home games?

KP: Not at all, we still have the best defence in the league by a fair margin. Sometimes the conditions are suited for a free-flowing high scoring game and yesterday it was, we conceded 100 points in three quarters. But what matters is to step it up when the game is decided and we did that with just 7 points conceded in the final quarter. The comeback was really built on the back of strong defence late in the game.

As Qhampion Data ratings indicate, spookism and Blacky our key defensive posts were on-point with their intercept game taking 8 marks each.

Q: Next up you have the Furies at the Hippodrome in Match of The Round again. How do you see the team matching up with the Furies?

KP: The Furies, is that where Mr Irrelevant plays? I'm sure he'll be very ineffectual. From what I know they're a very high scoring team, I think recently they've put The Half Back at full forward which seems to be working out well for them. It appears to be some sort of meta mind trick to fake out the opposition, like when Halfy marks the ball at full forward, all the opposition players will push back to the opposite end of the ground thinking that The Half Back has just taken a defensive intercept mark. But then he turns around and walks into an open goal. Those sorts of cheap tricks might work on lesser teams but the Stacked Six will be way too clever for that.

Q: What concerns you the most about playing the Furies?

KP: Well nothing about their Qooty ability concerns me, they got flogged by the Roys and the Demons who are two team that we've already convincingly beaten this season. I think an incredibly angry, miserable character like Ned_Flanders may become jealous at how good looking the Royals players are and the risk of somebody being assaulted prior to the game is high, especially with Ned's history of violent antisocial behaviour. I would think Blacky should probably invest in a helmet for the week. But other than that, we've conceded only 67 points on average on the road this season and I expect that to continue as we chalk up another big win.

hard to catch filthy

hard to catch filthy

Well, I normally stumble for half a season at full forward however if I win this it means we probably won the flag.

Yes, that's it.

I've played Full Forward for over 2 whole seasons KP, time to fire your scouting guy. I once kicked 69 goals in a season by using the above method though. I may not be able to fool the entire #stackedsix, but I'll at least get Noobz0r second guessing.

I don't play fullback.

You can't just throw a word like rattled in and pretend it's won you an argument. Reserve it for when someone actually is rattled.
Nice melt.

(Tuesday now but whatever)

Round 8 Presser: Gold City Royals 16.11.107 lost to East Side Hawks 18.12.120 @ The Golden Throne

Q: Very costly loss yesterday against the Hawks KP. What do you put the loss down to?

KP: Well when the midfield is -50 in disposals and the opponent has that much of the ball it's always hard work. They had a lot of clean entries on the day and we'll certainly need to work harder.

Q: There was a lot of controversy surrounding selection during the week. Did that adversely affect the performance in any way? And do you regret not swapping ShaunDuggan with MrPremiership as originally planned?

KP: It was a bit of a distraction but more important was to get the decisions right in the end. ShaunDuggan has been in great form this season up forward, he's our equal second highest goal kicker for the season consistently scoring and MrPremiership held his opponent goalless in a high scoring game and gathered 21 disposals himself. When you've got a forward who's in form and a defender who's also in form. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to swap them around now does it?

I mean look, MrPremiership had a very solid game this week and is an important member of the Stacked Six. Shout out to CakeEater as well who doubled his goal total and has been running into a rich vein of form.

Q: During the week you lost a game of chess against Chipmunk. Do you believe that somewhat demoralised the Royals and inspired the Hawks?

KP: Look, Chipmunk might be very good at 2D chess, perhaps even 3D chess. But here in Gold City, we don't focus our time on trivial things like those simple forms of chess. Chipmunk may have won the 2D chess game but I am playing chess in the 9th dimension.

Q: What do you mean by "playing chess in the 9th dimension" exactly?

KP: Well the Qooty season is a very long season. You don't win premierships after Round 8. So what's important is that you make sure you're not peaking and playing your best Qootball in the middle of the season. Which is exactly why I purposefully lost to Chipmunk in chess to give the Hawks the confidence boost they needed to win against us and break their losing streak. This ensures that we're travelling nicely under the radar midseason and then come the business end - BING BANG BOOM Kapow!!! we peak during finals and get that premiership! Speaking of Kapow, he's playing his 100th game this week.

Q: The upcoming week you have the Match of the Round clash against the Dragons, are you looking forward to the trip to Dragon Island?

KP: I'm keen as to take a trip to Dragon Island. It's always an interesting trip there, you get on the ferry and once you get off it's like you've travelled back in time 30 years. Would be an interesting place to write a travel blog about. In fact, maybe that's why haven't been playing well lately, the players haven't had the travel blog to provide inspiration.

Q: The Dragons have been in good form lately, convincingly beating the Roys, Demons and Bears in the past month. What areas of the game will the Royals aim to gain an advantage?

KP: They say you're only as good as your last quarter and in their last quarter they choked against the Gumbies. I mentioned Kapow!!! playing his 100th game against them and that's going to be a huge motivating factor for us. He use to play for the Sharks who eventually merged to become a part of the Dragons, he's basically playing his old side and there's no way we're gonna allow him to lose against his old team in his 100th game. This will be just like Marlowe's 200th where we destroy them in the first half of a MOTR clash and cruise to a celebratory victory.

It's go time legends.
