Always have been, right back to the 70’s when a drinking culture was adopted and the media started to treat them like pop stars. Before that they were honest, hard working types who didn’t earn much more than the average man. I find most of them pretty disgusting now. There’s a few exceptions

Who can say they find this sort of shit surprising though? So many of these footballers feel they have carte blanche to do whatever they like, couple that with the upbringing and level of education many have had and there’s your recipe for disaster. They can however pay for the legal team to get away with it (or settle out if come). Just another nail in the coffin for my love of the game for me

To be honest I don’t know how to feel about this. I’m of the generation caught right between the “man up, sticks and stones” etc and the ultra touchy-feely progressive brigade who treat insults as criminal activity. I’m only being honest here. I felt for Chadwick at the time, I remember the show, but let’s be honest we all grew up with that shit at school and should be more or less hardened to it

Everyone gets stick at school (and through adult life to a degree). It’s how you react to it that determines whether it turned/turns into a targeted bullying campaign or not. If you give stick back and didn’t take the stick you receive to heart you become “one of the lads” as so to speak. I’m pretty sure this shit is universal and not just a symptom of my own upbringing.
