Lost at sea from a recovery session!! Terrible

On behalf of all football fans I'd like to wish Manchester City the very best as they start their fight for justice today against the tyrannical Premier League.
Cheers. Good to have support from the football community.

Together we can end the tyranny.

:)

Rodri has legitimate gripes about the amount of football he's been asked to play, but the gripes should really be against the club more than the schedule.

Maybe FIFA needs to mandate a maximum number of minutes each player can play domestically, and a max in internationals in a season or calender year.

Then the clubs need to manage those minutes a bit better than they currently do.

My big gripes with the schedule is not enough rest between matches. Something I think UEFA and the league need to do much better with.

The only real solution would be scrapping the league cup and reducing the league to 18 teams / 34 games.

That would pretty much solve player overloading issues.

**** that. Why should the domestic league suffer? **** off more of the European football.

Agree. Shouldn't be changing things just for big clubs.

Just rotate your players more, plenty of academy and development players in these squads that can get minutes. Use them.

Great for the 18 teams, 1/18th of shitloads is much better than 1/20th of shitloads.

Pretty horrible for everyone else.

How about **** all the Euro football off?

The top few clubs are already getting a bullshit unfair draw advantage in one cup.

Seems the issue is these big clubs getting waited on hand and foot.

As far as I know, no one holds a gun to these guys heads and tells them they have to make themselves available for every game at International level at least. He didn't have to play Euros if he wanted a longer rest.

And for $200k+ per week, don't tell me these guys aren't adequately compensated for their workloads.

I mean if I'm slogging away 60 hours a week in a kitchen or a nurse in the ICU pulling 80 hours and these guys are getting paid more in one week than I earn in a year, I'm probably not going to be feeling sympathetic to their plight. I think it's a little bit out of touch

We shouldn't expect players to forego international tournaments, often the highlight of their careers. Nor should we expect them to refuse to play for their club. It'll be the end of their career if we do that.

Clubs need to take more responsibility IMO.

Yes I agree clubs need to be more flexible and probably need to rotate their squad more than the current trend. Especially the top clubs that participate in multiple competitions and have a bigger squad depth. How do you enforce it though? You can't say 'clubs A,B,C must play x amount of players for x amount of minutes per year, while clubs X,Y, Z can do whatever they want'
And then again it's the bigger clubs that will benefit if every club has to rotate their squads more as they have the higher quality depth waiting in the wings while some teams struggle to stay competitive with their first choice XI.
