Liverpool's midfield isn't really a bunch of no name players either. Gravenburch, Szoboszlai and Mac Allister were all highly rated, comparing any team to United will make them look pretty positive.
It also got walked through by Chelsea constantly on the weekend.

That's true too. GNev is a really shit pundit.
Could be worse, TNT Sports must be owned by Manchester United when you have Colour Commentator + Studio analysts of all Man United players saying they did well last night.

I don't see what that has to do with Man United?

Watch the discussion on the Overlap in the quoted tweet - Neville, Scholes and Keane were surprised that United and Chelsea's bigger/more attractive name midfields weren't able to get on top of Liverpool's.

The point being that buying big name players vs buying players who can play a role in a clearly defined and well drilled system is probably a big reason why United are where they are.

Also that these pundits are probably underrating the quality of Liverpool's midfield because as Magma pointed out every player is either world class or shit.

I thought our 22 and 20 year old midfield duo more than held their own against your more experienced set. Put in a great shift.

A manager should be able to get a midfield mix of Casemiro, Ugarte, Mainoo, Eriksen, Bruno & Mount working, imo there’s enough quality there.

Agreed it was a good battle. But Neville's take that they or United's midfield should have expected to walk over us is naive.
Yeah, they buy names. But the names don't necessarily have quality attached to them. Casemiro was hidden in Real's midfield and overrated. Ugarte wasnt getting games at PSG. Some of the others they have bought weren't being heavily chased by any of the "elite"

Pool's midfield has improved a lot since Klopp left. Slot has them operating a lot more solidly but Slob is just not good, he's ****ing trash, and it seems Slot knows. I wouldn't be surprised if he loses his place. The ideal midfield for them would be Grav, Alexis, and Jones advanced.

I watched it. It’s United pundits talking down Liverpool, more at 6.

I just don’t see how their attitudes have any influence on why United are where they are.

Arsenal have Keown and Merson in the media, and they are doing ok.

Wow. Maresca is openly criticising Reece James' leadership.

Enzo Maresca has said he “expected more” leadership from club captain Reece James as he admitted that Chelsea do not have a “proper leader” in their squad.
Maresca has publicly challenged James to display “more in terms of personality” behind the scenes at Chelsea, having also spoken to the England full-back about the matter in private.
“I spoke with him and I expected from him more in terms of leadership, inside the changing room and for different kinds of things,” said the Chelsea head coach. “He is on the way, he is doing well, he is progressing, but from Reece I expected more also in terms of leadership.

Sounds like a challenge TBH.

It's no secret James isn't a strong captain and he needs to be better, us fans have been saying it for a while(lack of leadership is our biggest weakness).

James shouldn't even be captain. He's got to worry about his fitness first. Hasn't played 90 mins since world war 2.
