Agree...Here was Tex’s similar incident back in 2018:
Compared that with the Parnell tackle:Tex cops his whack: Two-match ban stays
Crows captain's season is over after accepting his suspensionwww.afl.com.au
2 weeks suspension should be the absolute minimum. If the AFL is going to be fair dinkum about head injuries then it should get an extra week or 2, particularly more so since head protection is currently in the media spotlight, and the punishments appear to be harsher compared with past years.
You can even argue Tex’s tackle was necessary as part of the flow of the game. Broad’s sling action, on the other hand, was not necessary. Tex’s tackle appeared unintentional (to cause injury). Broad’s tackle appeared more intentional.
But there's a major difference between the two tackles to my eye.
Tex uses lateral momentum as the major force in the tackle. Broad lifts Parnell and drives him downwards.
irrespective of the victim outcome, the broad tackle is unquestionably more dangerous.
Given that Paddy effectively lost two games (mandated + possible longer recovery), the broad tackle deserves significantly more than the McAdam incident.
