the walker one is nasty but at least that was in play and involved momentum. he gets 3 for that these days.

i think there should be an assumption there that parnell had accepted that the ball was more of less dead because he was near/over the boundary line. broad just needed to run him over the line. we've been lectured to for all week about what mcadam should've done, broad did not need to do what he did. he'd be what, 20kg heavier and knew he wasnt going anywhere. to do that whole separate pick up and dump was just really pathetic. similar to how mumford and lycett would always somehow magically pick out the opposition's smallest player to rough up.

it has to be at least 4. it's deliberate and caused injury, potentially serious injury.

Illegal action, player concussed. Glancing blow.

Looking at last week that’s a one week ban.

Broad was lucky he didn’t potentially injure him.
parnell at fault - shouldn't be playing if he has a thin skull. Crows lose draft picks for drafting players with medical problems, and Parnell hit with 2 week ban for staging

The AFL going to have to flip a coin on whether to:
- stick with the Vic bias
OR
- stay true to their words on “penalising harshly on potential serious head injury”.

I don't agree with people getting upset due to lack of remonstrating.

I think from memory of the replays there were 3 crows around it and I think 2 of the 3 weren't even looking at the tackle as they had assumed a bounce/throw in/over the line. One I think appealed because they saw the tackle over but I don't think anyone actually realised the extent to which Parnell was actually hurt.

You don't see remonstrating much anymore and I would imagine coaches have just about outlawed it anyway. 1) Potential for free kick against 2) Potential for suspension 3) Get your setup right.

I get that fans like to see it because it shows a bit of unity in the club but I think a combination of the above explain why we saw what we saw.

Didn't see it + Didn't realise extent of it + Team discipline = Get on with it.

Obviously I have no idea why but that's my speculation. I'm also willing to admit it's a bit shaky given our apparent hard on for dropping a bloke after he has kicked it so the team discipline thing is a bit of hail mary I will grant you.

Edit: Okay all 3 saw the tackle but I don't think they realised the extent of it. They went straight into 'our free kick mode'

There was no need to do this. I blame the umpires at times for taking too long to blow the whistle when they can see it's a stalemate. 3weeks minimum. The captain should blast those players around the incident that did nothing. Hang your heads in shame.
Yep , especially the 2 players in vision

Rory Sloane a former captain more worried about getting a possession and playing on than looking after a young player.

The no flying of the flag really speaks volumes.

Not a single player went up to Broad afterwards after it was clear what had happened either and we were all waiting on doctors moving Parnell

After last week it has to be 4 weeks.

The AFC players should be shown this throughout the week and how they did nothing when one of their young teammates had his head drilled into the turf. Pathetic from the senior players.
Cant afford the wrestling fines after using the lawyer during the week!

He did injure him, he suffered a brain injury due to a concussion

After having time to cool down even though there is still steam coming out of my ears seeing Broad apologising to make sure he gets let off by the VFL.

He knew exactly what he was doing. What disappointed me more is not one of our blokes went in to back up the smallest fella on our list.

Retribution would have been justified in response to an act like that.

I just get the feeling Broad will escape with a warning because Adelside and if he does I hope we show some backbone and fight these biased mongrels.
Absolutely disgusting by our players. Disgusting.

Ohhhh a free kick against, look out! You really think standing up for your teammate isn’t worth a single friggen free kick? Wow.

Interesting that this incident with an actual concussion occurred just 1 week after the AFL made a statement rubbing out McAdam for 3 weeks for the potential to cause head injury (even though no injury occurred).

Has to be more than 3 weeks if the AFL are serious. The Crows lost the use of their sub & Parnell will miss at least another week.

The more I see that vision, the more weeks I reckon Broad should get. Up to 6 weeks now in my mind.

Completely outrageous tackle.
It has to be more than McAdam's which resulted in no injury and was penalised on potentially causing injury. The AFL is a joke so I I'm guessing the same penalty even though Parnell was concussed.

Aah beat me to it.

Boy oh boy wowee.

Considering how many dumb free kicks we give away combined with how shit we are defensively yeah it could be pretty bad.

The neanderthal handbags doesn't actually achieve anything. I thought only country football leagues still thought it was relevant.
