Part 4 is here:

Bad move. There is no justifiable reason to open the border other than the selfish "i haven't seen my mum / dad / daughter / son / third cousin seven times removed for 8 months."

Get back under the doona dude and stay there forever, let the rest of us enjoy our family and life.
And here comes the first simpleton.
We are enjoying life having eliminated the virus.
By opening the border we are going to have to go backwards and adjust to living with the virus because it is inevitable it will be reintroduced.
Businesses and the economy will suffer not prosper from this.

Maybe it was influenced by Palmer, maybe not. Regardless, I'm very happy that these steps have been taken. I'm sick of some elements of the WA community expecting that they can carry on as normal during a pandemic while leaving all of the personal sacrifice to others. It has been a dispiriting year in that regard. I don't want any cold feet from the government and they really need to do an aggressive campaign regarding social distancing and masks. No restrictions, but a strong message.

I cannot believe Liza Harvey though, after months of criticising the borders her comment today was " We've been calling for broader exemptions to be available — I don't think we were expecting the borders to be lifted the way they have". Idiot.
she’s had that many positions on borders it’s ****ing hard to keep track of

we’re opening the border to states/territories that have had no community transmission for at least 28 days, many of them haven’t had any community transmission for well over that (SA/NT/TAS haven’t had any for ages, similar with QLD). They wouldn’t reopen the border if they weren’t satisfied that the risk was very low.

You are correct, it is inevitable, can't close ourselves off from the world forever.

we should all thank Clive Palmer (still a w***er though) for this

November 4 was always going to get embarrassing for McGowan

I hope the court hearing proceeds and the outcome across the land is to enshrine criminal prosecution for blatant and knowing breaches of the constitution for politicians AND any government official obeying UNLAWFUL orders.
Had little, if nothing, to do with ol’ Clive.

Liza Harvey is a lovely lady, ******* hopeless leader.
Opposition has no options and this won’t change for another term at least. I wasn’t a fan of Liza as police minister and I actually thought she made some disgusting comments about road users, but I was pleased when she was making the case for people affected by the hard border.

If i am enjoying life with no virus in Qld.
and you are enjoying life with no virus in WA.
maybe we can get together, drag along the NT and SA, and enjoy life with no virus together? Dunno.

Sounds good in theory however,

Queensland economy is substantially reliant on domestic intrastate tourism, in WA it is negligible.
Queensland will open it's border to all after the election.
Risk v Reward is a no brainer for both states.
Qld open, WA remain closed.
Risk v Reward ratio would be better for WA to open to Singapore.

Singapore is where people from the whole world pour in

For tax dodgers ?
Trade. WA Government could stop subsidising SIA flights to carry pig carcases and strawberries if they were carrying passengers.
Also tourism, Singaporeans would love to come to a safe destination only 5 hours away, Queenslanders don't come to WA.

I didnt realise Singaporeans travelled to WA ?
I knew it worked the other way...mainly bali
Anecdotally..Most Singaporeans Ive met mainly go to Sydney for holidays if they arent going everywhere else first

Singapore is open to Australia minus Vic so its still going to be the same as opening to the rest of oz
They also opened to NZ Brunei China and Vietnam

Many Singaporeans have a second home in Perth and send their kids to University here.

Australians currently can't leave Australia, east coast can have their bubble with NZ, we'll have ours with Singapore.

And what about Clive's unlawful actions over the years? Any constitution that allows him to get away with the sh*t he has isn't worth a pinch of sh*t IMO.

While I agree that we should have had our borders opened earlier(at least to some of the other states), I find it very hard to summon any sort of empathy for Clive and his marauding ways - he's just an LNP patsy anyway. fu** him.

Please read the constitution. You wouldn’t have written this post if you had.

It is our nations most important document.

Qlders (historically) don’t come to WA. Neither do South Australians or any Australians really. But here is the opportunity. They cant go where they usually go. And vice versa. WA folks cant go to Bali so they can experience the top end, SA and Qld.
plus all I ever hear is how expensive it is to travel within WA. Well here is the chance. Get the volume and im sure qantas and virgin etc will put the flights on to keep their people employed and make some money.

It’s expensive to travel anywhere in Australia (relative to elsewhere). That said, with few other options, people will make do. I’ve been to Queensland, NT, Adelaide though, so I’m hoping for an international trip next year. Singapore and NZ were my choices before the pandemic, would be nice if we can get travel open to one of them.

Basil Zempilas guys, really?

he is Lord Mayor of the CBD where business owners get 2 votes and the residential population is quite small. Voting is not compulsory and I don’t think the turn out was that big - he won by 284 votes. Di Bains would be thinking wtf

Been reading about QR code’s for tracing and the privacy around it and it got me to thinking when the last time was I had to “sign in” anywhere

reckon it could be here where we might get caught short - do we have our own tracing app here in WA
