Part 4 is here:

I've been to a supermarket, chemist, newsagent and petrol station this week and none of them have asked me to check in with that tracing app.

The people working in those places probably can't be bothered asking people to do it just like most people can't be bothered doing it.

Like masks it's just another inconvenience that govts have imposed on us so they can be seen to be doing something, in effect it will achieve very little.

Completely opposite experience for me. I went to the chemist to drop off a script, had to log in and they asked me not to wait inside (I wasn't going to anyway). I went to the Spudshed next door, they had a security guard making people log in and blocking anyone without a mask. Then put the groceries in the car and went back to the chemist to pick the script, had to scan in a second time. Then to the bottleshop, they had a QR code outside near the door, so I scanned in. As soon as I stepped inside the bloke asked me to sign in, I had to explain that I'd already used the one outside.

Maybe you live in the wrong area or maybe you aren't intimidating enough.

I forget I'm a big ex rugby player, that might be why I can get away with not wearing a mask and doing the QR code stuff, people are scared of me.

0 cases but still basically locked down.

He actually has gone mad with power.

Almost all businesses reopened, schools back, 150 person limit for gatherings, how on earth is that still 'basically locked down'?

There are mad people here, but it ain't the Premier...

Imagine being Kirkup right now. The election is just months away and your opponent has his face on prime time TV for at least 30 minutes telling everyone how well he has handled an innocent hiccup.

Even a McGowan hater is probably thinking "Shit, it's 9pm at McGowan is still at work".

The libs are ****ed.

It’s a bit of overkill (masks outside, for example, threatening to fine people if they don’t sign in), but given it’s only for a week, it won’t be that difficult to see out. Plenty of politics in the decision making, if they went straight back to normal, they’d have to admit they overreacted.

How did this guy get his degree if his stance on preserving human life is "oh, we could try and keep as many people as possible alive but it would take so much effort that we shouldn't even bother"?

How was he motivated enough to study with that kind of view towards work?

I'm calling it now, he has a fake degree.

McGowan's a lawyer yet can barely read legibly from a prepared script, he's like a year 7 kid standing up in front of the class reading his own essay. Andy Robertson the CHO is worse, maybe that's why Marko doesn't let him out in public too often. Let the copper do all the pressers.

I am not small, but maybe not intimidating enough. But I don't try to be.

Wow there are some dumb questions in this press conference

The 'vigorous exercise' one was a pearler.

However, the 'overreaction' one was a fair one - in hindsight, yes it was overkill, but he's right in that if it was bubbling around the city and then started exploding people would rightly be angry that action was not taken early.

We hardly allow euthanasia but we're supposed to ignore covid and go "survival of the fittest y'all!"

There's been reports from the UK for months that, that is pretty much what's been happening in areas where medical resources are stretched to breaking point.

Doctors making choices on who is more likely to survive so they're not unnecessarily wasting resources on those less likely to survive.
