Ours was until 12.30am - weirdly everything worked except the lights

I’ve not experienced that sort of outage before

Everything was out for us, not sure what the reason for it was or if it was related to the hot weather but it was a pain in the arse.

We get them all the time out country, it's pretty obvious that the infrastructure has been let go over the more recent years because it never used to happen.

Partly an unintended consequence of solar. Less money coming in due to people getting free power but the cost of maintaining the network is the same (and huge). Really tricky problem to solve.

People's resilience to hot weather seems to be waning each summer. It was 40 degrees plus for 13 days of summer three seasons ago, a few days of mid/high 30s isn't Satan's arseh*le.
It's just because people love whinging.

It's Australia. it is well known that it gets hot.

People sit in an office with an ambient temp year round but will piss and moan about it raining or being hot for their 25 minute walk to and from the station.

I don't know, I kind of like having spikes and all sorts of weather, Australia has just about the best conditions possible –plenty of variety with distinct seasons that are mostly predictable and mostly comfortable; you don't get frozen Chicago winters, six months of Lapland winter darkness – or the inverse of summer in Sweden where it's light from about 4.30am to 11pm and throws your body clock off, or truly impossible heat.

People just love ****in whinging.

Not quite Perth, but interesting news out of Kal.

Fairly big money spinner for the town which is an issue

Surely they can just go without the horses? Everyone can still dress up and get shitfaced.

I know it's clickbait scum, but it was quite disheartening reading the comments under the news.com.au article on FB where they blamed immigrants driving on the wrong side of the road and money-hungry coppers with speed cameras for the tragedy. We are in the era of misinformation and hate bait now.

There has been some car accidents here that were caused by tourists from overseas that are used to driving on the opposite side of the road but I don't think that was the case with that car crash on Leach Highway yesterday. it sounds like it was deliberate.
