Solved The Peter Falconio Disappearance

No doubt, id say Hepi/murdoch we're using back packers to move the gear from Sedan to Broome to avoid detection from LE, only i think LE were well aware of what was happening and watching it all unfold.
I think Pete realised he was in the middle of it all and is probably the reason for the argument in AS. JL makes plans to return to Sydney and he plans to head elsewhere. Late in the afternoon, believing no one will follow them up the highway at that time of day they get out of Dodge, only problem is they clearly didnt factor in that the guys who owned the gear werent afraid of heading out after them.
They are caught, he's taken and she's left in BM's care to deal with cleaning up the mess and was probably hiding out in the kombi until the truck came by.
Glad to avoid the fete of Pete she vow's to keep her mouth shut about what really transpired and is allowed to go.
She gets picked up and begins telling a story which vaguely resembles the truth minus the drugs and associated people until BM's DNA is found on her shirt and Kombi and cant deny the science.
He knows its safer to keep his mouth shut as hes facing time regardless and tries to make up a defence for the transfer that keeps their business relationship out of it.
LE decide its easier to forget they ever knew of JH/BM activities than admit a british citizen was murdered on their watch and wait for the right time to officially connect the dots.
Hepi gets chatted, does a deal to fit his now enemy BM, sets him up with the friends from Sedan giving LE their much needed scientific link and the case is managed accordingly.

Hepi wanted to get rid of Brad and replace him with another driver after they had a huge falling out over Eccie's ...Hepi wanted to deal in the pills big time but Brad refused point blank to have anything to do with dealing or transporting pills, he said weed was one thing but pills - no way was he carrying hundreds of those. Hepi was waiting on a shipment of pills coming from Thailand and delivered to a furniture place in Sydney, pills were hidden in a ....I think it was a four poster bed but need to check files to be sure....anyway, a plane ticket stub found in the Kombi showed Falconio had gone to Thailand on his own while Lees remained in Sydney, he made a quick almost return flight which was weird as they had already passed through that country before arriving in Australia. Maybe to check on a pill delivery? pure speculation but quite feasible. Hepi claimed he could buy the pills in Thailand for as little as 10 cents each and sell them for up to 50 bucks each in Broome. It was also claimed pills were found scattered in and around the kombi when it was parked in the bush but - as we all need facts - till photos of that are viewed as evidence it is again just speculation and gossip. The blood on her shirt was a watery,weepy type of mark according to Joy Kuhl (yes, the same forensic 'specialist' who wrongly detected rust proofing paint to be fetal blood in Lindy Chamberlains wrongful conviction) Kuhl stated the mark was very small, more of a watery than blood substance similar liquid from a torn cuticle, all the rest of Lees clothes were unremarkable forensically speaking meaning no DNA or items of interest found. More than 12 months after Pete vanished and after Hepi fell out with Brad the cops optained a DNA sample from Brads brother, Gary, and later declared the sample on Lees shirt belonged to Brad and ensured newspapers ran the story along with a photo of Brad and which lees saw, studied and changed her description of the 'gunman'. These are the first lot of NT police media statements of the incident as well as the statements they almost had to force Joanne Lees to make a week after Pete vanished - note her words in the last paragraphs.....not even 7 days after the incident and she is asking people to respect her privacy and let her get on with her life..' and the classic lie of...' I am not prepared to sell my story to the media, I think it's disgusting, people making money out of Pete'

You questioned earlier why they changed their minds at Uluru and went north, if LE were watching this all unfold and were planning a bust somewhere along the route and PF had come to realise this, its possible that whilst in the Uluru area PF had first contact with them and it was LE that changed their minds for them and directed them back to the highway and north.
PF and JL probably naively thought an escape out of the situation via the back door at Uluru was possible not knowing the terrain.

I couldnt imagine a Kombi in that condition would make the drive from Uluru to Broome on those tracks and BM/JH would know this so i doubt that was part of the original planned route. Id say there was meant to be a rendezvous with someone other than BM out near the Tanami and this is where LE planned to throw the net around the whole group, hence the direction back to the highway.

Is it possible that this scenario led to the argument in AS, they decide to flee north without making the drop and so it brings BM, whoever was waiting at the drop and quite possibly LE all together on their tails as they flee, they are caught, the unknowns take Pete and leave JL with BM to clean up and build a story before she is released and LE not expecting it to end like this, quietly remove themselves from the situation before news breaks and the rest is history.

Let's not forget the reason he shot at them was because their football windup caused minor road closures, he had to go the long way home and when he got home he grabbed his gun and drove back specifically to shoot them. Let's think about that for a second. Bradley Murdoch was so incensed by having to drive a little bit out of his way cause of some Indigenous footballers, he stewed about it all the way home, grabbed a gun and then went back specifically to shoot them.

The only reason I can think of why she would get involved was she was head over heels for someone else and having a rampant affair.

I don't know, if she wanted to be with this Nick then if you thought you could get away with it and you wanted to be with the person you might do anything for love. He may have pressured her into getting PF killed so they could be together..

I guess the question is why go to the extent of murder, in a foreign country and engaging others to assist.
Its not like they shared a large property portfolio or extravagant assets that she wanted to secure for herself which is often the motive behind murder in relationship breakdowns.
It would be much easier to have said, on your way Pete, im staying here in Sydney for the time being.

Theres no doubt she wasnt as committed to Pete as she portrayed, but i think knowing what we know about their movements and obvious interactions, i find it hard to believe she'd be arranging the murder of her boyfriend in the middle of it.

Id say the email post attack was more about reaching out for some form of security moving forward without PF than anything else and not surprising considering she's virtually alone in a foreign country with her only other source of familiarity and security missing in such circumstance.
If it were me id be reaching out for my next closest contact.

It's the burden of evidence - beyond reasonable doubt. Also depends exactly what he was charged with, as there are different offences for 'killing' somebody.

Personally I think the law should be changed so that you can't be found guilty without a body.

Burke service station who allegedly saw Falconio one week after the disappearance? They seem very sure about who they saw, even 20 years later.

Take a trip in the outback of Australia. You can drive for days and days. It's the size of many a European country. You could get rid of 1000 bodies and they may never be found. It's like looking for a pin in a haystack. Old mineshaft is probably where Falconio finished up. You don't think Murdoch wouldn't have known spots to get rid of a body - he drove the back roads hundreds of times. He may well have done it before. Plenty unsolved missing persons in Australia.

The thing is Murdoch was high on speed amongst other drugs. Personally I think he saw Lees in Alice Springs and saw an opportunity.

It's fanciful to think Murdoch is protecting others. You think his Lawyers wouldn't have pressed this point if it helped their client.

After Falconio went missing Murdoch was desperate to change the appearance of himself and his vehicle and then go into hiding.

Murdoch was a monster and is right where he belongs.

In court he said Falconio was around 170cm and short blondish hair. Wrong on both accounts. Said he though he spoke with an English accent. The guys in the roadhouse outside of Alice said in court they saw Lees with a guy who spoke with a Greek or Italian accent and looked like Falconio.

Not particularly credible evidence. I don't know if the defence lawyers could do much with contradicting evidence.

Or it wasn't Bradley Murdoch. Which doesn't explain the DNA, originally I'd thought there was only a microscopic speck of DNA on Lees t-shirt but there was a bit more I think.

If BM didnt do this, then after all this time why hasnt he come forward with the real story? a desire to keep mum about something to protect others only lasts so long, especially if your in lock up for an extended period while they stay free.

He’s a violent nutter who was isolated, high on god knows what to get him through the drive, and paranoid as all **** given his cargo.

Of course it makes no sense to rational, sober people.

I doubt there was much more to it than him seeing them a couple of times and thus thinking they were tailing him.

Shoot em both in the middle of nowhere with no witnesses, and dump the bodies where they’ll never be found in a thousand years. And rape Lees before he killed her, too.
